Amazing professor. She helped me establish my foundation in anthropology. Best professor at UNLV for students who want to learn. Be ready to do the work. She hates slackers, but awards enthusiastic and hard working students. If you're serious about being an anthropologist you have to take her. Best professor period.

Worst prof. at school. Likes to seem brilliant, but spends alot of time talking about famous anths. she's met. I think she's rankled @ not being a famous anth. @ a better school, and she will take it out on you!! Totally bias. No room for any interpretation but her own. Disorganized. Takes everything out of context. You will be sorry!!

Dr. Knack is the most valuable resource at UNLV for someone who wants to pursue anthropology. She is brilliant, helpful, FAIR (she curves her exams and final grades), and is always respectful towards her students. She is the best prof. I've ever had!

I knew nothing about Knack before taking her course. I loved it. She has a wide knowledge base and I found her class to be very interesting. If you are willing to put in a little effort she is a farily easy professor. I am not sure why you are in college if you don't want a challange. I would take her over and over.

Prof. Knack is CHALLENGING, as is the material she teaches...Social Theory! Stay on top of the readings, highlight, make notes off to the side and internalize and criticize the readings...when you get to class, you'll be prepared to discuss, and understand the interps...remember, her class is a filter for would-be Grad Students. Very professional !

This course is mostly theory, not history. The amount of reading material not bad, but two papers due a week. If you don't interpret the material exactly like she does she won't give you a good grade. The final and midterm were both essays but they are hard to study for, mainly comparisons of authors. Very anal, strict, and worse course ever!

Very abrasive and stubborn. Take this class if you want a challenge. The material is quite interesting... sad that she somehow manages to make it boring during lecture. I did get an A, thank you, but not worth it in my book. I would have rather read the books on my own.

Don't take this class if you have a full load, the reading assignments are crazy, two papers due a week. Perhaps if I weren't taking 16 credits this semester I would have found it easier. She does know her stuff and you will learn from her, not very helpful when trying to make an appointment to see her...get ready to work really hard!

Knack's reading load is totally gratuitous and she's a tough grader, but she curves like crazy. If you want to talk about grad school, she is the one to talk to... very helpful in the respect. She is by far the most difficult anth professor at UNLV.
