Comment:
Martin is the type of professor they warn you about on fox news. Class discussions involve him going on rants and dismissing any questions or ideas that challenge his Marxist worldview. All writing assignments are essentially book reports, with zero space for students to synthesize their own ideas on the subject. Not acceptable for a 400 level.

He taught our environmental studies course and it was probably the worst class. He would type up 10 pages on word and just read it to us. He had a copy on blackboard that we could read at home. I can honestly say the class didnt learn anything for the class. Some days we read a paper and he would just answer our questions for 2 hours.

This professor was well organized, a quick grader, gave great feedback, very accessible and caring. His SOC 310 online Stats was comprised of 8 modules containing, calculations, SPSS work and 8 quizzes. Get ready to read and show your work although he's not a stiffler on grades. He didn't require a textbook which saved me money. Great teacher!

He uses BB & email. Video tutorial for SPSS lessons. Concise summary of each chapter, each week there are 3 grades (SPSS homework, Text exercises and a quiz over that weeks chapter). His expectations are very clear. He will help during his office hours if you need. Only used text for homework assignments. Final was open booknotes. Great!

He knows his stuff but he makes simple mistakes that makes the class hard to sit through. It is painful to sit through a class of his. The class is easy if he doesn't explain the material. Makes too many mistakes for the content to make sense

The lack of clarity in this course was astounding. He demands hours and hours and HOURS of work on your part when he has only put 20 minutes into organizing the course to begin with. Would avoid.

The entire semester I was less than pleased with the grades I was getting on papers. He's a tough, even for a decent writer. However, he does allow points elsewhere to make up for it and I left with an A. He's super smart (and a little extreme), but not fond of his lecture style in this particular class.

He had lots of interesting things to say and would go off an tangents, which was entertaining. Really encourages class participation. There are weekly assignments that you MUST do. I got a B (even though I got an A on the midterm, final, and all writing assignments) because I'd forget to submit questions on blackboard every week and it killed my A

Easy class to get a good grade in, need to read every book since book essay is worth 20% of your grade. He is the MOST BIAS LECTURER EVER, and if you try to take a different stance he will basically ignore you or say your wrong. his "facts" & tangents are bias. Take his words with a grain of salt and do the essays/15annotated bibliographies=A.

Dr. Orr is the BEST teacher. I had him for two courses in the same semester - one very difficult class, one pretty easy. He goes to great lengths to make sure his students are undertanding the material presented. And he is excellent at returning emails/calls. Great teacher!

I took this class online. There is a lot of reading. Basically you have a couple weeks to read a specific book, write a summary, and post questions on BB. Then you have a test on the reading and start on a new book. He is an interesting professor. I recommend the class if reading doesn't bother you.

He is not the best orator. Get over that fact. He has a Liberal lean, but he plays the devils advocate. Class is easy. He is a good teacher, even thought I didn't like the subject. I recommend Martin Orr as a teacher.

Environmental Sociology - was a great class. I learned a lot. There was A LOT of reading, so be prepared. We watched a lot of videos in class, he keeps attendance by asking for notes on the videos...miss too many classes and your grade will be affected. Super professor! I highly recommend him.

He was a cool teacher, no homework just readings from the text to help you with quizzes and tests, willing to help out if you need it. if you miss class that's on you, there are times when you watch films and get points for turning in movie notes.(ps he looks NOTHING like the picture posted. i laughed when i saw it!)
