This professor has come out of retirement to teach at Hamilton High School. Parents of students considering signing up for jazz band or orchestra should know this teacher does not communicate, is routinely late to his own classes, makes his students late, is disrespectful of students in public, and most students drop out after a year or less.

It was an online course so I never dealt with him in person. Once I emailed about a missed question on a test and he was exceptionally rude. The semester grade was based off 5 online tests each with 20 questions and 20 mins to complete. Each question = %1 of semester grade. Some questions were misleading and unfair. Still got an A though.

I'm in this class right now..Spring 08. I just started doing the lessons and it is SO SO SO easy! I have 4 quizzes done already. I'm almost a month ahead from working on it for maybe an hour. If you have any knowledge of music at all, you won't have to read much of the lessons. TAKE IT!! EASY 3 CREDITS!

Horrible. Class was very hard, 20 min to take a 20 question test online (only 5 tests). Readings and topics so boring. DON'T recommend to anyone unless you want a bad grade.

This teacher did nothing for this class. We learned through a 3rd party website in Virginia. The only contact I ever had with the professor is when he sent us a message that we should take the midterm. He doesn't care about his students at all.

This professor is one of the worst I have taken through ASU. He had us buy a $100 CD that we "couldn't do the class without" but it turns out that we didn't even need it and it cannot be bought back. Also, before the final I had a 95% and then dropped to a 72%. He never returns any messages. Horrible teacher.

Mr. Province is amazing! He is strict and demands attention and focus from his students. He knows so much about marching band and conducting and music in general. He may be intimidating, but if you just talk to him, you will find out that he is the nicest man.

MRP has the enthusiasm and drive to help the marching band go far. Some dislike him because he is altering Couch's regime. But honestly, it is about time we had an update. MRP listens to and welcomes suggestions. Great fun! Should join!

Marty just does not do a very good job with anything. Rehearsals are disorganized, he's disorganized, makes WAY too many mistakes, the band sounds awful, and would be better off letting the TAs teach run rehearsals. He simply does not fit in at ASU!

I personally don't like the way he teaches conducting to beginners.I learned mainly by looking how others in class conducts.There are quizes before each conducting round. The quizes have no relationship to conducting and are pointless.Attend class, because it's part of grade! Practice with a metronome.Trust me, it helps A LOT! 7point scale grade.
