I loved Dr. Schmeling. She's one of the best chem professors at loyola. Her lectures were very straight forward. As long as you show up to class, take notes, and go to discussion you'll do well. The test questions are mostly all discussion or example problems from class. 4 tests including the final. She drops one.

Answers questions and explains well. Study in class examples & practice test for the final. Drops worst non-final exam.

Dr. Schmeling is definitely one of the better professors in the Chemistry department. Her lectures were mainly practice problems, but never really explaining why things were to be done that certain way. She is a nice prof but does not seem to care much for her students. Show up to discussion and do the work and you should be fine.

A lot of people don't like her, but she's good compared to all the other chemistry professors. The exams are hard, and the lectures aren't perfect; but if you pay attention, go to discussions, and do the homework, you'll pass. She drops your lowest midterm. Study for the first AND second midterm, theyre easier; the third is the hardest midterm.

Dr Schmeling is a real sweetheart! Her lectures got dry at times, but overall very interesting and her German accent is adorable. We learned a lot but by no means was the class hard. 3 exams w/ lowest dropped plus a final paper. The subject matter was catered to the class and she really tried her best to make sure everyone enjoyed the class!

Dr. Schmeling is a gem. She really cares about her students. I took her for Honors 204D - our grades were based on 3 exams (drop the lowest) and a final paper. The class is very lecture heavy and I took it at 8:30am so it was a little tough to stay awake. She does try to make it interesting. She also has the sweetest heavy German accent. 10/10.

Not my favorite lecturer, but her exams are really easy and straightforward. Go to class because exams are based on board problems that are not on the ppts. She also discussion worksheets and online quizzes where the problems are similar to the ones of her exams. Drops one exam and the final is cumulative. Mostly calculations on her exams.

She is pretty nice, but I didn't love her teaching style. She would post some PPTs online, but in class she mostly did a series of practice problems on the board with little structure or connection between them. She gave infrequent but long assignments, which was not very helpful to me. She hardly told us anything to help us prepare for tests.

Dr. Schmeling is a great person, but her teaching style didn't really suit me. During lectures, she'll talk about one topic then go into another where I'm suddenly lost in information. However, it is important to be in class because she does a lot of examples which mimic her exams. As long as you follow along with the examples, you'll do fine.

honestly one of the rudest professors i've ever had here. she won't call on you in lecture if you have a question and in discussion, her only answer to your questions is "oh that's easy." if you have already learned everything covered in this class she isn't that hard but not a good choice for someone just learning this materia

I wanted to really like Schmeling but I only sort of liked her. Her tests are relatively easy and they're multiple choice but she's not super clear on the material and what's going to be on the exam. However, she does drop one exam and all quizzes are online!

Schemling is a really nice professor but I wouldn't recommend her for first time chem learners. If you have taken AP chem in high school, then Schmeling is good for review but if you're learning the material for the first time, it'll be difficult with her as a professor. There's 3 easy exams, she drops the lowest one. All her exams are REALLY easy.

The most fair chemistry professor I have had at Loyola - she is a complete sweetheart, she really cares about her students and goes the extra mile to make sure we are understanding the material and have all the materials to succeed on her tests and quizzes. I love her and would take her for every Chem course if I could! Also not too much mastering

Professor Schmeling is extremely sweet and an expert in the area studied. Her tests can get a little tricky, as they are over a lot of information, but if you study hard you could get an A. By far the best honors professor I've had so far.

Schmeling is such a nice Professor. I even interview her for another class and got to know her better. She is very good about answering questions you have and explaining any confusing concepts. My TA from Chem 111 lab worked with her and he helped me at times as well. You need to put the time in to study otherwise it will be difficult.

She's really sweet and likes to teach but isn't very clear on assignments or what material is going to be covered. If you take her make sure you read the book to truly understand the material.

It's clear she wants her students to do well. Sometimes she's a bit confusing in class but clears up any confusion during discussion or office hours. She assigns quite a bit hw but if you do it all then it's great practice. She says exactly what to study for exams and they aren't as hard as majority of the other chem 101 exams. I recommend her! :)

She is extremely nice and caring - she made a point at the beginning of the semester to incorporate our interests into her lesson plan! The class can get a bit dry, but as long as you make sure to pay attention, it's not very difficult.
