I enjoyed this class a lot. She really understands the importance of childhood and being a kid. Non-stressful class, can be fun at times, just try to keep up with the readings. No essays, just a bunch of little writing assignments. You only need the physical picture books with you & just access online (gutenburg) - you don't need exact edition.

She is very caring, understanding, and approachable. Also amazing book choices, but can be difficult to keep up readings (1 book/2 weeks). No essays, but little writing assignments and mini-essays/creative alternatives, which I love. I enjoyed this class so much, definitely one of my favorites.

She always comes to class with a smile on her face and good attitude. She encourages everyone's opinions and is very nice & approachable. 8 Books. 6 short responses. 4 Graded assignments. All fairly easy and she's an easy grader. Not necessary to read books, just go to class, cannot miss any in class assignment or there'll be a deduction in grade.

Mary Galbraith has been the most understanding professor I have ever had. She understands the challenges college students face and therefore makes all her deadlines lenient with everything due at the end of the semester. I loved that her class permitted a space to enjoy the readings and creativity and did not focus entirely on grades.

Galbraith herself is cool, but there is no reason to go to class. Lectures were fluid, but structureless. I might have gotten a bad class, but it was boring. Very easy A, and I'd take her again because she seemed cool. Not a huge fan of the book choices either, but YMMV with those. Easy A & easy to show up and do other work if that's what you need

Mary is a passionate lecturer who does not believe in overanalysing the childrens book and thereby ruining the books. She has fun with the material and cares about her students. All papers are due by the end of the semester, so you can work in your own pace.

Galbraith is very kind. We had to read 1 novel per week and a half. Written analyses of 3 passages from each book. "Study Questions" for each book (but were actually small essays), she procrastinated a bit on grading so she gave us more time for each one to turn in. No midterm, but there was a final essay. Averaged our top 5 scores for the grade.

Interesting lectures, enjoyed going to them. Gave good insight on all the works. There are in-class writing and occasional reading quizzes. Going is fairly mandatory. The class is a good amount of writing, but as long as you do everything it's an A. She's not a tough grader. Two fairly long books too.

All of the texts are public domain. The lectures are interesting and fun. Turn in assignments whenever, but keep on top of them.

As a math focus I have always struggled with english, but I learned a lot more than I was expecting. Her easy going personality invites a great opportunity for interesting class discussions. Her passion for English and education is clearly evident. I know that I will use the knowledge I learned in her class through out my future career.

She is so awesome. Her classes are very engaging and enjoyable. The reading curriculum is not to difficult even if you don't like to read. My only negative is that she is a Difficult grader for essays. I feel that she is looking for specific interpretations of the literature. Wish there was more freedom in responses.

I have taken Professor Galbraith now two times. She is very helpful and will answer any questions you may have, and is very laid back. Numerous study questions aka essays (about 1500 words), responses for each book (5-7 books), and oral participation is up to you. Just don't fall behind on the reading! Love her classes!

Professor Galbraith is wonderful, and very passionate. Her class is super short and fun. Basically, there are 9 novels to read, 4-5 study questions to write, and 3 essays. It was easy even if you haven' finished the book, she doesn't like too many quotes, She like you to stick to one quote or section and talk about it. She doesn't require a length.

She is a nice person but I didn't enjoy her class. She doesn't use any interesting outer sources for the class. Also, she tells you that you can disagree with her opinion on the paper, but if you do, your grade will get lower.

This is a follow up of the last review, which was mine. I spoke with her and she listened to what I had to say, then reviewed my grade again and ended up raising it. I should have submitted my comments after I spoke with her. That said, she is obviously very understanding and willing to work with you. When in doubt just ask.

Loved the teacher/class. My issue is clarity in grading. Final paper could be a revision of a former in-class essay. My in-class version received an A. I polished it: C+, referencing "same problems" from my first, problems that were never addressed or reflected. Despite numerous A+ assignments, this one is factored into final grade. Disappointing.

Laid back class. This class is more about grammar and writing. 3 essays and 3 homework goes along with the essays. She'll prep you with these essays in addition to 3 quizzes which are comprehensive. Not that hard, she'll be happy to help anyone. Essays have no rubric, but showing up in class may help. She also offers revisions for first 2 essays.

Lots of reading in this class like a book every week. Does pop quizzes which are easy if you read the book. several study questions (mini comprehension tests) & replys (mini quizzes). Interesting and insightful teacher. Strict grader (no rubric). Participation & attendance are taken by surprise. Fun class, but lots of work to be done in there.

Great teacher! All you have to do is do the works on Blackboard. She open to anyone's comments and tend to go off point but she would get back to the point.

I love this woman. She is so kindhearted. She introduced me to many new books that I never would have read. Do your discussion boards, write thoughtful papers, and make your presence known to her. I could sit around and talk with her for hours! Just respect her and have diligence in your work. She will notice and you will make a good grade.
