I don't know why she is getting semi-bad reviews, she was a pretty good professor. She did teach popular music of different eras; it got interesting for me when we reached the 1950s. There are 3 midterms that if you read the book, you'll do fine on. There is a presentation, but its easy.

I could not stand this lady. For some reason she really just irritated me. The class was a waste of my time. As long as you know the music on the cds and have a moderate knowledge of music, you'll be fine.

Great teacher, really knows her stuff. I didn't buy the book but I went to every class, and still passed! For grades, we had to do one group presentation and the rest were 3 midterms, with lowest score dropped. Really nice teacher and very helpful and available in office hours for any questions

HORRIBLE!! Classes were so boring! After the first test i didn't go to more than 1 class between tests and i studied and got a B+. Do NOT take this class unless you just need a nap time class.

Awful class awful teacher awful material its redundant and the only way you can understand it is if your a descendant of Mozart don't take this class if you don't have to. Class is pointless waist of time AND money DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS I cannot stress this enough even if your a music major Don't take her!!!!!!!!! AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL

Hard to follow her, or understand her. I had to learn all of the information on my own time... not to mention the overwhelming amount of material she covers. She is a musician, but not a professor, and lacks any ability to make the material interesting. Try to take the class with another professor if you can.

BORING! No need to go to class...unless you want to sit around for an hour twiddling your thumbs. For the first 3 tests all I did was read the chapters and looked at the listening guide, and I got two 100s and a 96. If you are planning on anything with music for a major, don't take her.

SO FREAKING BORING. The class dwindles every time I go. She makes interesting topics boring, as well as her notes. Her tests are based on her notes, but you need the book/CDs for the listening parts. I wouldn't recommend her at all.

First test didn't study got an A. Second test I studied and got a C but it was curved to a B. Third test got a B and final exam got an A. Final grade was an A. This class was hard to get an A in. Too much studying required for that. She is an extremely nice lady. However, the class is B.O.R.I.N.G and at times you have no idea what she is saying.

Good Teacher. She is very helpful. Her help hours are online. She dropped the lowest test grade when I took her. 5 extra credit points for a 5 page paper. Take this class only if you have some interest in classic music. Otherwise if youre looking to fulfill your cultural class requirement, take cinema survey.

Most BORING teacher I ever had!! Thought the class would be interesting went for maybe a couple months and then quit. She puts you to sleep every powerpoint is the same and I cant think of any word but DULL for this class. If you must take it, dont go to class and just read the chapters in the book and you'll do fine. Just find a way to NOT take it

She is a really nice professor; however, the class is not so great. If you don't know anything about music (rhythm, melody, harmony, meter...), I don't recommend you take this class. Class is kind of boring and you get sleepy with the Classical music. If you do take it, read the textbook and do the extra credit.
