Dr. Owen is such a kind woman, it's unfortunate that her class is so difficult. She is so passionate about her subjects, I think that she forgets that her students are students, not PhD candidates. She will give you the materials you need to succeed, but hit you with a 15+ page exam, covering extremely obscure material. Thorough studying is a must.

She's a very smart professor, and it shows that she truly cares about biology and the topics she is teaching, BUT she is a very hard grader, she will cover 2 chapters a day if she has to to stay on her schedule. Her exams have been 12 pages long, though the average could be a 78, count on being below if you don't study every day week before exams.

Expect exams that are 10 pages+, first class exam was like 12 pages long!! She'll give study guides the night before the exam and you will be tested on EVERYTHING. she takes attendance and notices who's really putting some effort into the class, very bright and so nice outside of class, but always has something going on so good luck catching her

Dr. Owen is an extremely hard teacher. Her exams are atleast in the double digits. She pays heavy attention to details will mark you down for anything you miss! She definitly brought down my confidence as a student.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS AT THE SAME TIME AS ORGANIC CHEMISTRY!!! In this Cell Bio class, there is a LOT of material to cover, in only 2 weekly lectures and a lab. You have to stay on top of it, to have even a slight chance of making it through her infamous exams. We're talking 10 page, "apply what you know" type questions exams. Make time for it!

I absolutely love this woman. Her lectures are so clear, thorough. Topics on the tests are never ambiguous, she's so organized! I felt really really prepared for biochemistry.

No slackers in this class. Her tests are legend. She's truly concerned with how people are doing, always asking how she can make the class better for us, and she listens if you speak up. I told her a test was too long for me to finish, and next exam was almost half the length, but still challenging. Tough class, but you learn a lot. Recommended.

Exams are wicked tough and long. When she says that EVERYTHING is going to be on the exam, EVERYTHING will be on it! Other than that, she is extremely helpful, open to ANY suggestions you have about the class, and tries to help us succeed and NO she isn't out to get us.

She's my favorite person at Simmons! Very challenging, but very helpful and open to suggestions on how she can better teach her class (ie. she welcomes students to stop her during class and let her know if she's moving too quickly through material).
