Comment:
The positive: Brilliant. Classwork is heavy, with dense reading assigned every week. Class discussion tends to be lively due in no small part to Hager's commitment to subject matter. The negative: I tried to delve into the specifics of one paper only to be rebuffed by generic feedback and a strange reluctance to help hammer out improvements. B-

By far the best professor I've ever had. She loves what she teaches and most importantly loves to teach it. She makes you work hard, but it's honestly so engaging and worthwhile. Classes are discussion heavy. She directs conversation but doesn't dictate it. She brings so much energy into the room; it's infectious. I highly recommend any Hager class

Professor Hager was engaging and open to discussions that the students chose to talk about. She is incredibly passionate about what she does, and it shows! Gives immensely helpful feedback but usually does not do multiple drafts. She has an incredible sense of humor, too! Put in effort and she will work with you; if you do not try, she won't help.

Does not allow for any discussion or differing ideas. Extremely in genuine. Leaves hurtful comments on papers if she doesn't like you. How she treats you and grades your work is based on if she likes you or not. Students hardly talk in class, she talks all class. Extremely rude and passive aggressive. Not open minded.

One of the best professors I've had at Simmons, very passionate and an interesting and analytical lecturer. Was willing to accommodate me when life got in the way of academics. Expects hard work, but makes it worth your while. Also, total silver fox. Only complaint is that the curriculum ( Roots of Feminism) could have been more diverseinclusive.

She knows her subject well and she is incredibly intelligent. She expects a lot from her students, though. You can get a good grade but be prepared to work extremely hard. Lots of reading and papers. That being said, she is always there to help you. She also makes sure to reward good work and a good effort.

Prof Hager is very passionate about teaching, energizing the class with her excitement. Still, her knowledge is very limited to white, heterosexual history and lessons are from an extremely privileged perspective. Hager changes the syllabus regularly and piles on additional work on a whim. The work is hard and exams are harder.

I've taken many classes with Professor Hager. Her classes are amazing, but she, herself, is horrible. She is fake with her students and makes unprofessional, hurtful comments when she has too much pride to say she is wrong about something. Her attitude is disgusting and she has no problems treating students like trash if she decides to not like you

Dr. Hager is a horribly judgmental person. I never even had her as a professor and yet she insulted my professionalism as a graduate student declaring to me I should not have been accepted into the GCS program. FYI. I graduated with a 3.8!

Professor Hager is engaging and brilliant. She pays attention to details and has a real passion for literature and sharing knowledge. She is a hard grader and has high expectations, but she is also human and very accessible. Follow the rules, attend every class, ask thoughtful questions, participate and you'll be a better writer by the end.

She would make comments on assignment drafts and then contradict herself when she graded them. Seems very pleasant but she certainly has a specific agenda and believes she is the Bible on Victorian literature. Debate was not welcome, as any disagreement would lead immediately to her shooting your point down.

Some find her to be harsh, some find her to be arrogant. However, she is absolutely brilliant! She's tough, stop crying about it. If you get a bad grade in her class it is because you deserve it. She is ALWAYS willing to help. She's a tough professor, but I'm not paying $40,000 for crap. Through her efforts, I know I'm not wasting my time.

Kelly Hager is an arrogant, punitive, and unfair professor. She told me that I completely misunderstood several texts even when I ASKED her for assistance on those specific areas I did not understand. She pretends to be kind and helpful, but in reality, she runs her lectures as if she were a history professor. Smart, but abuses her knowledge.
