Comment:

He's brilliant, but is so old he often forgets what he's already taught. We got the same lecture on Uncle Tom's Cabin four times. He interrupts you and will make fun of you if he doesn't like you or thinks you can take it, so be aware. Also, if you're a pretty girl, he will call on you whether you want it or not. Prepare for rants on politics.

He is without a doubt one of the worst professors I've had or will ever have. He is rude, condescending, and constantly picks on students. He's smart, knows it, and won't stand to be corrected when he gets something wrong, as old men like him often do. The workload is ridiculous, no consideration for other classes or jobs. Don't take his classes.

I enjoyed this class with Dr. Lowance. He is EXTREMELY knowledgeable on the subject material and he's a very endearing old man lol The only thing is, he's very old fashioned in his teaching methods; if you prefer uploaded powerpoints and homework through Moodle, then you might have a hard time.

Without a doubt one of the worst professors at the university. This class was not only boring as hell, but he constantly talked down to his students. He makes it difficult to participate and shoots down every comment you make. He interrupts your presentations to comment on your voice or spelling. Honestly, avoid him at all costs, he is truly awful

I have never had such a horrible professor. The work load was rediculous. Our midterm was two papers, each 10 pages SINGLE SPACED. He would talk down to the students and at times it was to the extent of bullying. You need thick skin to survive a class with him. I would not take another class with him ever. Too much emotional damage not worth it.

Yes, he is tangential. Yes, he jokes (a lot) and his jokes may be a bit off-color in modern society. However, he knows his material, and is more than willing to be helpful. If you're the type to ask "is this on the test" or you get butthurt by bad jokes, yeah, find another teacher.

I loved him. Yes, he's difficult, and yes, he interrupts you a lot, but if you do the reading and actually listen to all of the things he rambles about, you learn a lot about the content. This man knows what he's talking about. He's also absolutely hysterical if you have a sense of humor.

Avoid this teacher at all costs. My last review was deleted because I told the truth. Do not take any class with him that relates to African-American history. He is an ignorant jerk and will let ignorant people get away with their comments. I am trying to have him fired currently. He also wants you to buy and read his crappy book.

While the material's great and he's an expert, he's a bit intimidating, doesn't give very clear directions for projects, and interrupted everyone during their presentations. If you participate in discussion, show interest, and work hard, it'll still be a great class. Also, his lack of technological skills and dislike for Sarah Palin is hilarious.

Complete jerk. Makes completely inappropriate comments (told a few kids to kill themselves today! Even in a joking manner, I don't think he realizes what kind of thing this is to say), and he actually knocked my grade on a midterm down for coming into class late and not using the back door. Avoid this professor, trust me.

I took him for junior writing. He looks like a nice grandfather type, but he's condescending and sometimes downright mean. We had to do oral presentations (which he gave zero directions for), and the FIRST kid who went, he interrupted him mid-sentence and basically embarassed him for 20 min until class ended. VERY intimidating.

Prof Lowance is the man. His attendance policy is kind of strict, and the reading load can get heavy at times, but he keeps the lectures interesting and the class goes by fast. His tangents are especially awesome as he can talk for long stretches on nearly any subject including **** driving, people in the class buying drugs, and geese.
