I actually couldn't handle this guy for quite a bit. Really messed up on a test and he told me to come in. Changing point of the quarter. Helped me big time when I went in for office hours. The time you put in matters.

Very hard to understand. Very unwilling to give fair amount of partial credit on problems on tests and quizes. Often seems like he doesnt know what he is talking about and just pulls stuff out of his butt. DO NOT take unless you already have a VERY firm grasp of chemistry which I thought I did because my high school chem teacher was really good.

He has a really heavy russian accent. Hard to follow lectures most of the time. Does not appear to know what he is doing as our class often corrects him. Looks down at you if you dont do well in his class.

I had him for labs. I had no idea what he was talking about at the beginning of each, but he helps you along and you eventually get it. He lets you redo reports you did poorly on with no penalty as well, which is nice.

his lectures are basically useless just read the text and outline the chapters in your notes to use on the tests. Does not even know the material himself. it is possible his lectures are just a form of russian torture

Very boring lectures, he basically just reads out of the book the whole time, and is very unorganized on the board, mixing up equations a lot because of it. He also tries to tie nearly everything into chemistry which can get a bit annoying when you are trying to learn physics

Very very helpful in lab, the nicest lab professor I've had. Not unfair in grading lab reports. Often walks around and checks in on lab progress and helps you along through the lab, sometimes even if you don't ask. Has an accent but its not so bad that its an educational barrier. Can have a sense of humor also.

Kaltchev forces you to learn. He goes very fast in class and expects that you know what he is talking about. He will spend as much time out of class as needed to get you to understand the material. Once you get past the Eastern European approach, he is really a great teacher and a cool guy.

Kaltchev can be intimidating, but he really wants people to do well in his class. If a lot of people do poorly on the first test, he will make the second much easier. Lecture can be boring, but he is always willing to give time to students who ask for it.

You can use notes on tests, including the practice tests he gives you. Will review your test and tell you which problems you have wrong, so you can fix them before you turn it in! Funny russian accent, its funny to hear him say molecualar formulas alot.

I really liked him cuz he gives you help with labs and isn't picky. There's only about 4 problems on each test - can be tricky but you can use your notes!! I recommend him.
