I didn't like him the first day of class b/c of pet peeves he listed in his syllabus (like not being able to use the bathroom, phones being silent, etc.) But, he gives you a lot of chances to pass or to bring your grade up. As long as you're on top of it, you'll pass. I ended the semester (summer!!) with an A. It was more fast paced than I thought.

Comment:

He puts a lot of emphasis on grit that you will need to pass his class. He grades tough but it made me realize the importance of precision b/c math needs to be. He also gives a lot of opportunities to pass the class with enough dedication to your work. I was failing, brought my grade to a low C before the final, Aced the final and pass with B.

Ugh I love matt. I think he is an over all awesome dude! His grading is hard and his class will kick your butt but if you keep on top of your work and go to his office hours you will pass. I suck at math and I got a B in his class so there is no excuse. Gives a ton of work but it will help you in the long run.

Mr. Davis is an amazing Professor, he has clear grading criteria, accessible office hours, hes hilarious, gives a lot of homework but its fair and enough to fully understand the concept. Mr. Davis offers extra credit and test retakes. Hes a great professor for any math class!

Mr. Davis is a great instructor who has developed interesting teaching methods that help you better understand the course concepts. The amount of work required is necessary and fair, considering he provides HARD WORKING students plenty of opportunities to complete EC/redeem unsatisfactory grades. I recommend taking him for ANY math class!

He explains concepts well. I've always been a C student in math but got an A in his hybrid course over the summer for Math 53. He makes you work for it but it's not impossible. He is picky, but everything he wants is clearly stated in his syllabus and on paperwork so students who complain have no right to complain when they come to class unprepared

HW IS ONLINE. EXPECT ABOUT 40-7O PROBLEMS. IF YOU LOVE MATH TAKE HIM. BUT IF YOU ARE NOT GOOD AT MATH DONT. TOUGHEST CLASS I HAD MAYBE ITS BECAUSE IT WAS A HYBRID CLASS.

Sooo much homework and the test has 10 problems with 4 parts each. Will take off points for the smallest things, ex forgetting your calculator at home, even if it's the first time. Taking off points hurts because you can only get 5/5 on assignments. Tough grader. First teacher I ever considered dropping. Full time workers beware.

Gives a lot of homework but it helps you understand the material. offers a ton of extra credit and chances to bring grade up if you need it. You get what you put in from this class so if you don't have the time to do all the homework or study it will show in your grade.

Mr. Davis was awesome, although there were a ton of homework. if you do what he asked, you will pass. he gave a lot of extra credit, which was great! he would love to help who want to learn. and he replies email very soon, even though that's late night. Beware the quizzes, do homework, watch lecture video, you will pass!

Solid teacher. Does just about everything to help you pass the class. After that, it's all on you to cross the finish line. LOTS of homework/group projects. Make sure you don't have too much on your plate. It's all very time consuming. Lazy classmates will drive you crazy. Very tough grader. But he's fair and allows retakes + extra credit.

You can pass his class as long as you are on top of what you need to do. Even if you fall behind you can still catch up! Do your test corrections and get a minimum of 60% on online quizzes and you will get a poker chip and he will let you look at your notes during a test! You have to work for your A!

Cool dude, solid teacher. There's a lot of homework/projects but if you do them all you'll do fine on the tests. He wrote the textbook for the class and it sucks. Lots of group projects. If you don't slack off you'll do fine. If you suck at math to begin with take another teacher.

Matt Davis is an exceptional professor. He is a tough grader and has lots of pet peeves but he is understanding and fair when it comes to grading. You have plenty of chances to raise your test score with test corrections, all you have to do to receive the corrections is your homework. Highly recommend Davis.

Matt Davis was an excellent Math teacher. Here's how I know. I haven't taken a Math course for YEARS until now, and I passed with an A. Make no mistake it wasn't easy; you just can't miss class and DO NOT PROCRASTINATE on homework. It's that simple. Math may be confusing but he helps out alot during class, office hours, and stem center. Great guy!

Ok... This class was so hard... I suggest trying to make it your only class or if you can't, then do not work! He gives out an insane amount of homework. Like 8 to 10 hours a week. He is really helpful though and makes it easy to pass if you try hard.
