Comment:
I took this class as an elective, and boy was that a mistake. This class is easily the hardest class I've taken in all my years of schooling. Dr. Durant most definitely knows what he is talking about, but he doesn't explain it well. It is almost impossible to study for, and YOU MUST PASS THE EXAM OR YOU FAIL THE COURSE! Do not take as an elective.

Class is super hard, and I only took it for an easy elective. Would not recommend. He repeats material on his presentations way too much and makes it impossible to study for. His assignments make no sense and his midterms are impossible to study for as his questions range from easy to very specific information. Would never take this course again.

Spoke too fast, no textbook and had to find my own, because you will need it. You can go to every class, take notes and study everything and still there will be no guarantees of passing. Would not recommend if it's an elective.

So tough. Took this as an elective in my first year and it ended up being the hardest course I took. The tests were chock-full of facts, to the point where on the final, I knew I wouldn't be able to know everything required for the test. Despite this, I found the course very interesting and informative.

If you are looking to take an easy elective.. this is NOT the class for you. A lot of work has to be put into to this course for an unacceptable grade. Not a GPA booster. Hardest class I took in my first year. More geared as a nutrition major course. Lectures are useless. If you fail the exam you fail the course. DONT recommend.

This is not a 'bird course' you need to go to class and read the textbook. It is very interesting course and Dr. Durant is very knowledgeable and open to questions.

Comment:
He wrote the textbook. He really knows his stuff so he can answer questions and explain well if you ask.. but goes through things too fast and with not a lot of explanation during lecture. Biggest negative about him being so knowledgeable is that he thinks students can understand, grasp concepts or know what to remember easier than what is reality.

Tough Course! Great proof, extremely knowledgable and you learn like crazy. But the midterms are hard because there's so much information. Great class and great proff, just be ready to do work.
