A understanding professor, one of my favorites. Yes, there is at least one reading assignment a week, but papers are sparse. He truly just cares about you learning, and wants people to become engaged. Through his lectures, I've built up my perspective on the world and literature, & I've made connections I definitely could not have made otherwise.

Very good lecturer, has a lot of interesting insight into the works he teaches. However, it is best to pick his class if you have background knowledge in the time period or do a lot of background research. He gives you free reign when writing essays, but expects strong work. I loved his class.

This guy is just not a good professor. He spent a whole class talking to a group of English majors about why people in our generation can't write. Nitpicks when he grades and has strange expectations that we should address papers to experts. He was ineffective and gave me a B even though I went to office hours 3 times and every class. Don't do it.

A sweetheart. I know that's weird, but he's just so nice and genuine. Eloquent, understanding, and really engages with whatever the students bring up. Obviously a really intelligent guy. Really hope to work with/learn from him again.

Professor Buckley is extremely knowledgeable about modern drama and theater history. He's a great lecturer and I learned a lot about the plays and their social contexts. V. helpful in meeting with students to discuss paper topics. Didn't use a strict calendar for the semester, but the workload was reasonable. The performance groups were cool too.

Professor Buckley is an awesome professor, his class was so pleasant and he's a great speaker. He is really knowledgeable about all sorts of things. He's very understanding and doesn't want to stress or push his students too far. Classes are super interesting and the readings aren't long. He's great, definitely take him if you get a chance

Professor Buckley is always dedicated to getting the most out of class time. Lectures always encourage active participation, and are great compliments to the readings (do them!). The graded assignments are few and far between (2 papers all semester) and you would be wise to attend and pay attention in class. Overall a great professor.

Buckley is one of the best professors I have had so far at Rutgers. He is truly invested in both his students and what he studies. If you show interest in the course, he will be more willing to give you the grade you need, but is helpful regardless. All of the plays were uploaded online. Funny but not ridiculous. Take him.

Attendance is mandatory but you won't want to skip, his lectures are great! He makes you do a grading contract, and weight the exams high! They're easy if you pay attention in class!

Buckley was great, but this intro class was stale. Hardly anyone spoke - only a handful of folks spoke up in class. Buckley didn't do much to cultivate community, and folks weren't inspired to contribute so much. Many freshman in the class, it seemed. But he lets you pick your own paper topic and encourages you to explore. !!!Show up excited!!!

I was randomly placed into this class and the only reason I didn't drop it was because of this prof. He is really nice and genuinely cares about the students learning, and is also a generous grader. Only a few essays and an optional final exam. The readings were interesting and I recommend. He's really helpful if you seek it.

Clear, interesting, well prepared, FUN, overall an AMAZING professor! He will sprinkle his lectures with wisdom about life (naturally, not in a haughty way). He'll teach you more than you expect, grades VERY fairly, and has a wonderful respect for life and people in general. The best professor I have ever had.

Interesting reading material and really lax class sessions - sometimes lecture, mostly discussion. Get to design your own grading scale. Really nice guy! Workload is weekly response papers, midterm, final paper.
