Prof Restall was pretty awesome. Funny teacher with a lot of knowledge on the subject. Sometimes hard to follow because he jumps around topics throughout one class period. You are graded on open ended quizzes and exams, plus 2-3 papers. Took it as a Gen Ed and got an A. Take him for a history if you can!

Took as a gen ed. He's very knowledgeable in history but he teaches it as a basic intro class which is good. No real exams just 2 paper assignments and a midterm and final. Midterm and final were just in class essays. Takes attendance which is kind of a let down being the class was so large. Show up, take notes, review the notes and its an easy A

Take this class if you want to learn about the history of England. Every SINGLE topic is somehow related to England (where he is from). Also the essays are graded pretty tough for a History 011 class.

If you're looking for an intelligent professor who makes history classes bearable, look no further. He is engaging, lively and funny and the bonus is you actually learn stuff in his class too. I'd sign up for another class he taught in a heartbeat

Dr. Restall is incredibly smart and really knows his history. The class was taught by themes which I liked, but I had to furiously scribble notes during every lecture because he doesn't post words on the power points/notes online. He rambles some, but its usually just funny and entertaining. All essays tests and he's an easy grader! Take him!

Teaches themes (Empires, World War, Technology, Food, etc.) rather than a straight chronological order. The development of each theme is discussed from 1500 to present-day. Different method, not sure I liked it so much, but it got the job done and was fairly interesting. Restall is pretty funny but also all over the place and rambles a lot.

Restall is the best Latin American Historian at Penn State, and possibly in the U.S. His lectures are somewhat misshapen because he has no notes nor lesson plans, but his knowledge is vast. He must be the first choice when taking 302W.

Interesting class. Dr. Restall is hot!!! His accent just makes it better! He rambles through his lectures though. Lots of materials covered within the 50 mins of class. But his TAs are fantastic!!! Spencer rocks!

wow, my favorite class by far at PSU. his lectures were so interesting i actually wanted to go to class. he also made us laugh every day. i highly recommend him but his classes are tough to find. but the grading is only 2 essay tests and a paper. so if you don't like to write about history, don't take the class

Wow, yeah, I definitely would have had a much harder time going to this once a week class if he wasn't so hot.. and he's a much easier grader than I would have thought as well. He also knows a ton about Latin American History. Great class overall, if at times a bit boring.

This was a great class and Restall was awesome. The class wasn't too difficult, and he's always cracking jokes. He really covers the material well and is very clear on his expectations. Unfortunately he doesn't teach that often so take him if you can. I LOVED his accent! And he's good looking too:)

This one bummed me out--turns out that I didn't need to take this class and I was so swamped with work for other necessary classes that I had to drop it. He's really fantastic.

Works best with****an. An Irishman and and Englishman teaching a course together! what could be more entertaining! I came to class just for the rivalry and incessant bickering between the two.
