I had Professor Geratch for 18th Century Literature, and although the material was somewhat dry on occasion, Geracht was always enthusiastic. He's been teaching here since the 60's, and if you have the opportunity you should really take him. Really nice guy and sometimes really hilarious.

This guy is THE most interesting english professor in the world. He doesn't drink beer but if he did it would be Dos Equis. In all seriousness, the guy is awesome. If you participate in class and take good notes you'll do fine. He is very helpful outside of class.

I honestly love this guy, have him for an advisor and my 18th century novel class and while he's a little spacey at times and can be unclear to some, he's really a brilliant man who has put his life into his work. Amazingly nice and considerate, go to him with a problem and he'll help. Probably my favorite prof. the school, recommended to all.

Readings in 18th Century Lit - Definitely grades on improvement. Got C+ midterm, B/B+ paper, B+ paper, 64/100 on reading quiz, almost no participation.. ended up with B+. Definitely knows his material since he's been teaching since the 60s. Very boring at times but encourages you to learn and think in new ways. Many sexual innuendos.

He definitely knows his material and initiates some interesting discussions. Very helpful with corrections on papers and exams but is not helpful in office hours. He has obvious favorites though and cuts people off a lot when they're talking. I did not really enjoy the material of the class but it could have been worse.

I agree he is vague but is also helpful when needed. Also, for an old professor, he sure finds a lot of sexual innuendos in his readings! Boring class at times, but you learn a lot.

Geracht is a really nice guy but about a million years old. He's been teaching at HC since, like, the 60s, so to take his class, you have to not mind an old-fashioned teaching style. He also makes the class read at an extremely accelerated pace.
