Mo is the type of professor who's better as a friend than a teacher. I didn't really get to learn a lot of the technical stuff of film and much of the time I learned stuff that's really unnecessary to my major. If you want a class that's easy in the sense of not a lot of work and you don't have to show up most of the time, Mo's your guy.

Moe is a really cool guy, but he's not for everyone. If you want to do some fun, experimental stuff with all kinds of software and mediums, he's a fantastic professor. If you want structured learning with a focus on film, look for someone else.

Super laid back and his approach to the class is super inclusive and open ended. The 8 AM labs weren't painful given we got to explore creative programs and learn by having fun with them. Gives a lot of helpful tips and tricks, and is very approachable. Wants to see students succeed.

He is a treasure. If you do learn in his class, it's your fault. He gives you a chance to step up and do your thing but if you don't put in any effort you won't learn anything.

If you don't know how to use basic editing software/cameras and/or you are into strictly filmmaking (not music, animation, etc.) get out. Moe is all over the place but it's a really fun departure from usual Emerson film snobbery. He will accept anything you do, so if youre independent and have ideas in mind, he's your guy. He's funny, albeit crazy.

Mo was the first professor at Emerson that made me think my time here might actually be worth while. He's not for everyone, though. If you are going into this class expecting him to "teach you how to make a movie," you won't get much out of it.

Moe knows what he's talking about but sadly doesn't know how to teach it. The class is so laid back that by the end you question whether or not you actually learned anything. Basically if you hand in all of the assignments you get a good grade. He doesn't take attendance, almost everybody skipped class.

Literally the easiest teacher ever. If you show up, and do the 3 film projects assigned, you'll pass. No rubric, no essays, no papers, nothing. Just do the projects, and get an A. The labs are boring; I've been to few and learned nothing. But Moe is an awesome guy. If you take the chance to get to know him, you can learn a lot. Very passionate

Hands down the best professor at Emerson. Moe takes a very non-traditional approach to teaching and it's incredible. I thought I was just going to have a fun class with my boi Moe and not learn anything, but I actually learned a lot and expanded my thinking about audio. TAKE ANY CLASS WITH MOE HES THE BEST

In short, Moe is a good guy. Mostly talks about sound stuff because he is not a film person. If you are a complete noob at film and want to know more, get a different professor. However, if you are comfortable with your basic knowledge of film, then take this class for the easy A. It's just vm 120 after all. No one cares.

VERY introductory course. Mostly just fooling around with imovie and photoshop. Also, Moe has no idea how to use most of the video software; the students had to figure it out on their own. Moe claims to teach "against the book", but there's a difference between that and "not teaching at all". Very likable guy, but not a great prof.

Mo really is a great professor. Anyone who says that he doesn't critique work is quite wrong. Yes, Mo hands out A's if you turn in assignments, but he reserves critique sessions for those who put effort into their work. He doesn't waste his time on kids who don't put forth effort. Bring in good work and you'll get a lot out of him.

Moe is an awesome guy, but a HORRIBLE teacher. I don't care if VM120 is an introduction course, the teacher should still TEACH and give critiques on project. Instead he rambled for an hour and gave everyone A's as long as they turned in their projects. I was extremely disappointed and this class was one of the reasons I transferred from Emerson.

I barely learned anything. By the end of the semester a TA had essentially taken over, his class seemed unfocussed and pointless. He is a great guy, but seems more like a film enthusiast than a good filmmaker or instructor. weird obsession with avant garde stuff

Mo is a great guy, but a terrible terrible teacher. With one month left in the semester, we have done only 3 projects, all of which I have used iMovie and gotten an A. I have learned nothing. If you're serious about learning how to edit and make good films, don't take the class with him.

By far one of the best professors at Emerson College. He understands the industry, and thus knows the best way to teach the material!

A really interesting and nice guy, but in his VM120 class, I learned absolutely NOTHING. The short video projects were sort of interesting, but I learned nothing in the labs and even more nothing in the lectures. He focused EXTREMELY on sound design, and not very much on anything else. Not a good VM 120 teacher...

While Moe is a pleasure to know, and holds interesting discussions, I found that I learned hardly anything regarding the course itself. He likes to show examples of stuff, but doesn't really teach how to use equipment and software. This may be okay to some, but to me, I found it to be a rip off and a little disappointing. But he is an easy grader.

Moe is completely experimental. I had him for VM 120 and I didn't learn a thing about filmmaking because I came to Emerson with enough experience from high school. VM 120 is a super-introductory course... don't expect too, too much. Moe likes things that are nonstandard and interesting... hand in some avant-guard projects and you'll be all set.

Moe is totally, cosmically awesome. He will be your guide to whatever you want to learn about. Do not miss out on a chance to take one of his classes. Unlike many classes, your success is based on your willingness to explore and experiment, and to work in an unstructured environment (the blank canvas of the world)! And THAT is true learning!
