I have never had a writing teacher put so much effort into grading papers that are written. She actually reads the whole essay. Lectures are relatable to real and current life events.

Comment:

Mel can be tough but it is all out of the caring of her own heart. She gives powerful lectures that hit close to home for me. The workload is the same as every other writing class I have taken. She takes time out of her busy days to read the entire essay of each class and tries to understand what the writer is saying. overall great professor!

I am currently taking Mel's online Writing 121 class, assignments are due every Monday and Wednesday and each assignment has at least 3 parts to it and each part takes at least 20 minutes. If you take this class prepare to spend a lot of time working on her assignments and essays. content is tough as well. and grading for essays is tough

AVOID THIS PROFESSOR AT ALL COSTS. SHE DOESN'T HAVE A TERRIBLE RATING ON HERE FOR NO REASON. Very tough grader, very unclear instructions. If you don't understand her weird wording and riddles in her instructions, you will fail the class. We had an online class of 50 students, by the end there were only 14 students still in the class!

Mel was the worst professor I've ever had and definitely the worst person I've ever met. She was incredibly rude, unorganized and unfair. She called people names and made students cry. She never got her feedback to you so you didn't know how to improve and if she didn't like your topic, she failed you - even if the paper was good. She is the devil.

She asks that you show up and participate and for you to critically think, she will not hand you the answers, but wants you to look for them. The more curious you are the better you will do in this class. This is not an easy A, this is use your brain and think

She is very confusing and hard to follow, gives different directions every class period for the same thing, usually be late to class. The assignments are not organized, will ask when things are due, her response.. "The syllabus," jokes on us.. The syllabus was never posted. She degrades teachers who make you buy the book.. She is one of them

Talking to my friends who have taken this same class with a different professor, they would laugh when they see the essays and other assignments in this class. Makes the class much more difficult than it needs to be. We sit in class everyday doing things completely irrelevant to our assignments. Takes her weeks to grade papers, bad experience.

Worst professor I've ever had. I took the online version of this class and the class started out with around 25 students. By the last day of class, there were only 4 students remaining in the class. She would abandon the class for 2 weeks, then randomly post a paper at 8pm, due the next day at 10am. AVOID taking her, you will regret it.

ABSOLUTELY horrible. Does not care about the students. The students are A LOT more responsible than she is. She made an appointment with me and she never showed up or answered my emails or calls. Cares more about her food than students. Why does she even teach at LCC? I think its best for everyone if she retired.

Was very confusing. Expected a lot of work to be done in a little amount of time. I got sick about half way through the semester and she was not very helpful or understanding to my situation and didn't give me the help I needed. A lot of the course I spent on my own hoping I was doing it right.

Awful instructor. Was not helpful when it came to anything in the class. Takes weeks or more to respond to emails.Harsh grader and acts as if students are stupid. Gives TOO MANY assignments and does not realize students may work, have other classes, or a life. Overall HATED my class with her. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASSES!!!!

Assigns WAY too much work, as if she thinks no one has lives or other classes. Very unorganized. Very confusing about where to post assignments. Rude when you ask for help.
