Prof Stern is GREAT!! I barely knew anything about Excel, and I was able to pass with a near perfect grade. His teaching style is very informative and barely strays from the topic, so you'll actually learn a lot of useful material. He doesn't like having phones out but won't call you out on it. He's a great prof 10/10

Comment:

Professor Stern genuinely cares about teaching his students and does the best he can given the boring subject matter. He's always willing to meet with you for clarification. He always replies to emails and comes into class with a good attitude. The exams are quite challenging in that they call for specific knowledge, but luckily he curves them.

He's really nice but material is dry and boring. He can't help that. People tend to doze off and get distracted by the computers in the room. He is chill though. However, if you don't pay attention the assignments and tests can be difficult. There are not many tests or assignments. Maybe one assignment per chapter. And one test for every 2 chapters

Comment:

MIS 1045 overall boring, but you HAVE to take it if you are a business major. I don't know why people think how can make the lectures fun because overall excel is a boring topic. It is not his fault. Overall, the exams are EASY, homework takes a bit of time, but I heard he is the easiest out of the few professors that teach the class.

Professor Stern is a really nice guy. He really is interested in teaching his students (at least for my graduate Ops Mgmt class). It must be hard to teach this class because there is not really a "fun" way to go about it. The class was 100% lecture/PowerPoint. 2 tests, 1 short paper, 1 very long paper. Stern did not let class go until the very end.

If you know Excel and PPT, class is a joke, if not, it might be difficult for you. He cannot teach well, but if you know it all like i did, you'll get an A. Cheating on exams and HWs is simple, which is basicaly the entire class. Nice man though, I like him, but stay away if you NEED to LEARN Excel.

Very nice guy, but very boring. MIS class consists of Excel projects in the lab. Production Management is all lecture, and definately the most boring class on campus - you will not be able to stay awake.
