I took this class as a first semester freshman. I love history but prof. Zook's lectures were awesome and interactive. She keeps your attention the whole class and is quite entertaining. It was by far my favorite class and she was my favorite professor. Plenty of extra credit opportunities also.

Dr. Zook is one of the most entertaining professors I've ever had. Her lectures are very interesting and easy to follow. You're gonna have to take notes, she doesn't put any notes or powerpoints online. Few grades but all easy to do.

Professor Zook is without a doubt the best professor I've had at Purdue. She's funny, knowledgeable, and cares about her students. She allows plenty of extra credit and opportunities for help on the papers. She makes every lecture worth coming to with her style of le cturing and humor. I love her and would highly recommend taking any class with her

Melinda Zook is seriously the best college professor I've ever had. If you have even an inkling of interest in history, take her class! She inspired me to pursue a history minor, she's that good. Your grade will come completely from exams and papers though, so learn to write if you can't yet.

Prof. Zook is the ideal professor, her lectures are entertaining and tell you exactly what you need to know for the exams, just be prepared to take tons of notes! Zook is readily accessible outside of class, gives helpful and constructive feedback, and her number one concern is her students. I absolutely adore Professor Zook!

I've had Zook for a few classes and as an advisor. She is the real deal, literally the best professor I've had on campus. Not only does she put in an enormous amount of time *to help you individually*, she's incredibly nice, a genuninely good person, and an excellent instructor. She's the model professor.

Prof. Zook is the best professor I have had at Purdue. She really cares about her students and their performance in the class. If she offers drafts for her papers, YOU NEED TO DO THEM. Her comments are helpful and often essential for doing well the essays. Her exams can be a little tough, but not bad if you put in the effort.

Amazing teacher, really cares about her students. She never turns anyone away who comes to her for help. Fair grading and very nice. If you visit her during office hours, she always offers you some candy or a cookie. More than one textbook needed, but all are useful, and she uses all of them.

She knows her subject very well, but she put far too much emphasis on religion (compared to the textbook) and not nearly enough emphasis on societal and cultural aspects of the subject. A more objective and factual approach to teaching the class would have been more appropriate; and made for a much more interesting class.
