Comment:

Professor Amov is very knowledgeable, and well respected at Grossmont. He prefers to lecture for the entire class which can at times be bland since he does not use power points, but he knows his history. He does not require a book, and all the answers to his tests are in the (Free) handout he issues. There are 4 tests total. Plenty of Extra Credit.

Comment:

Mr. Amov, by my best estimates, is at least 86. While thats an impressive age to be teaching still, he is probably one of the best teachers I've ever had. Very no nonsense, for example. Theres no book he gives you a (Free) packet for each chapter that has everything you need to know. Your grade is all of the tests added up. Awesome teacher.

This guy is adorable. He's pretty old but knows his stuff! The lenctures are interesting and informative. He does go off on tangents now and then but it doesn't matter because he literally gives you the answers to his tests in packets (no book!). He does a great job of making things interesting and relevant. No homework, few tests and extra cred.

Mr. Amov is really old, but don't let cloud your judgement when you take his class. He knows what he's talking about. All you really have to do is pay attention and read the packets he gives you and it's an easy A. He has a knack for teaching and did a great job making the subject interesting and bringing it to life.

Really cool teacher who loves history. Very old and sometimes is hard to understand. Only take 4 tests all year all the rest is just lecture. Pretty interesting class though for the most part.

Really cool guy that really loves history. He is pretty funny in his own way. He is very clear about what he wants done. Class consists of two midterms and a final...no hw whatsoever. He also offers extra credit. Definitely a solid professor that I would recommend to anyone.

I absolutely loved this teacher! There is no textbook, he gives handouts outlining his lecture. Just show up and listen! His lectures are very entertaining if you know a thing or two about history and some old pop-culture references, you'll laugh at his wisecracks and find yourself using the same jokes. He's like the grandfather I've always wanted!

No textbook, very difficult grading scale, few chances for extra cred. Summarized section assigned for Final, even better than his own personal notes and somehow received a poor grade. Not sure he reads beyond the first paragraph when he grades. DO NOT take, even if you are intensely interested, he will ruin your GPA. Effort brings no result.

I loved Prof. Amov! He really knows his history and even though he lectures the whole time, he's never boring and makes it interesting. No textbooks, just packets that he prints and gives to you. The tests are easy as long as you prepare for them.

His teaching style is different, as other commenters stated, but I find it extremely effective. He is an amazing lecturer, and really tries to actually -teach- you, little difficult but very wholesome class. Very understanding professor, willing to check your work. I liked this guy a lot and may take another class of his.

He's an OKAY professor. His teaching style's weird and he isn't clear. And his test questions are ambiguous and kind of irrelevant. He's a wise guy though and I preferred when he went off on tangents about current events. His textbook sucks. There are typos, run-ons-- completely incomprehensible except the last packet. Take him if you must.

Great! No textbook! Some things get a little boring, but others are very interesting. No homework, basically just 2 tests and a final. Tests consist of multiple choice and a mini essay. His teaching style is a little odd, but manageable. Never noticed any problems w/ him and the ladies..Take his class, you'll love it.

Mr Amov is an awesome teacher. He really knows his history since he's been teaching for 40 years! His tests are a little hard, but everyone can pull out with an A because he grades on a curve, and offers extra credit. There is no text book to buy and if you read his notes, it's a no-brainer.

i loved this class!!! itr was very informative and the teacaher really knew what he was lecturing about. The multiple choice questions were a little hard but if you pay attention in class and read the packets you should do fine. I in no way think that prof. Amov is a creep. He was very nice and in no way the sexual harrasment type.

He is very nice and by no means a "creepy old man." He may be a little scatter-brained, but all you have to do is follow his lectures with the notes he gives you and write down what he says and you'll be fine. The tests are easy as long as you study for half an hour. He's a great teacher and obviously loves the subject.

Ugh. The class was very interesting & the lack of a textbook was wonderful, but I learned NOT to miss class & need to visit his office. He's a dirty old man. Can we say, "sexual harassment"? Just don't miss any classes & read his note packets & you'll do fine. Avoid close contact, ladies. Like I said, he's a dirty ol' dude.

The good thing is you don't have to buy a book, he gives you the notes you need, and just followes notes. Does test on some things not in the notes. Just go to class, take notes, and you will be fine. Everyone who failed in his class did so because they think they can not go to class, just read the notes and do fine. Wrong!
