Comment:

Attendance is mandatory but you learn nothing in class. Keeps you for the full 3 hours, sometimes a few minutes after. Tests are book bank but ridiculously hard/tricky. I advise you to teach yourself the material and pay attention to details. Springs last minute stuff on us a lot. Nice guy, though.

He's a nice enough guy, and a pretty good teacher but he's a hard grader. He even says that to him a C is average, to get higher you have to go above and beyond. Just make sure you read the book and come to class and you should do all right. He also offers a couple extra credit assignments so if you do slip up theres always that.

Overall, he is a good teacher, but be prepared to do work in the class. He's tough when it comes to grading speeches and give one minute essays to check if you're reading the textbook. However, if you do the work, you should get at least a B in the class. Despite the work, he's a really good professor and very helpful.

He is a very harsh grader. I did excellent speeches and never got above a 84 on a speech. His One Minute Essay's are a pain and can bring your grade down, you HAVE to read the book and STUDY it. His speech class was a lot harder then other friends speech classes. He was a good teacher but just asked to much for a gen ed course.

Very specific about what he wants and expects for each speech. As long as you deliver that, you're good. Reading the book is a MUST to get through his "one minute essays". But you can scan the book before class starts and still get by. Overall great experience for a speech class. Very approachable and helpful. Made class atmosphere very friendly.

This is not an easy A! I am a good student and I barely got an A. You really need to read the book. Tough grader, but is willing to help you. He is very nice and gets to know all of his students, we were like a big family! I enjoyed the class, but had to work. He also uses the +/- grading scale.

I would suggest U find another teacher. There are easier teachers. Grades very hard! (Not fair to those who are weak in the speech area)nice guy, but he grades too hard, even when you do exceptionally well he finds something wrong with it.Do not read the paper AT ALL!Only take if you have NO CHOICE!

Great teacher! Tells you exactly what to do for the speeches. Only one paper and five one-minute essays about the chapters. If your technique is good, you'll get an A no questions asked! Nice guy that really cares about you as a person.

I really enjoyed this class because of Mr. Wheeler. He is very compassionate and understanding. The material is EXTREMELY EASY. This class reminded me a lot of high school...small class size and you get to know everybody.

This class was very easy. The atmoshpere was pretty laid back, which helped with speeches. He was a great guy and had a wonderfully cheesey sense of humor. Highly recommend!

Super nice guy. Use CD and online practice test, some questions come from there. Lectures are boring & repetitive. Speeches are easy if you do EXACTLY what he says. Lenient on speech times. Grades strict if u dont do what he wants! TAKE!!!

Very helpful and precise with regards to expectations and grading. He is a preacher, but he will listen to differing points of view -unlike other "progressive" profs I've had. He grades on technique, not content. No agenda.

I LOVED this man! He is very encouraging and understanding. Don't take advantage of his kindness though. If you respect him, then he will respect you. Allows speeches to be about whatever you want them to. Excellent class!
