Comment:

Tests are reasonably difficult. She is flexible and understanding and gives points back if whole class doesn't do well on exam. Very approachable and eager to help you if you have a question in class or in office hours. Homework and in class assignments are basically there boost your grade!

Comment:

This could be the most discouraging class you will ever take. You can study for hours and understand concepts really well and still not do well on her tests. She purposefully tries to trick you by putting multiple choice answers that are correct but one is just "more correct." Do yourself a favor, don't take this class with her.

She is a nice lady, but my goodness she is a bad teacher. We are required to do online homework and read sections of the book, but when it comes to studying for the test she suggests we don't use the book or homework but use her lecture slides. Her tests contain material that we have never covered and she even admits to it.

Dr. Bertagnolli is very nice and always willing to help, but her exams are horrible. They are unorganized and consists of very vague questions. Let's just say that the class average for 2 of the 3 exams were 70%...Find an easier 100 level bio professor.

I love Dr. B--sweetest woman ever and very clear in what she teaches. Her exams are impossible though. She thinks they're 'fun,' 'challenging' questions, but no matter how much I studied, I never got over a 90% because the depth she wants you to know for the exam is far beyond the book and lectures. Expect to spend TONS of time on Wiki to do well.

People who are really smart got horrible grade. She considers a B- a good grade. Her tests are unorganized and have a lot of out of the blue questions that she considers "fun"...good joke. She is an amazing person and always tells funny jokes...just not the best prof. DO NOT TAKE.

Awesome, awesome teacher. She is extremely organized, and likes to make sure everything is crystal clear. However, her exams are hard, and incorporate more math than some of the other cell profs. She is so helpful though. Is very accessible and wants to make sure students succeed. Hands down my favorite biology prof.
