Micah is just an absolute treasure. He's so excited about biology, and it's simply infectious! Go to office hours, chat with him after class, and readreadread! Lectures are totally required, but if all else fails, there's the book and the tutoring center. Did I mention that he tutors there?

yeah he's funny, but absolutely not a good professor. read the textbook + take notes because lectures are scattered and hard to follow. his exams are way too difficult. definitely does not value the time students are willing to put in. I wouldn't recommend him, even if he's entertaining. not continuing with him.

Micah is warm and engaging. His lectures are energetic and humorous and spark passion in the students. He gives good study tips throughout the term and is clear about expectsns. HE IS A TOUGH GRADER. You will be asked trick Qs and Qs not covered in lecture, but he gives detailed study guides/practice exms so you know exactly what to study. LOVE him

I really enjoyed taking his class but can see how it isn't for everyone. No PowerPoint lectures so no notes to follow along with or to access later. His lectures are good but it is up to you to follow along (I recorded lectures so I didn't need to worry about catching every detail the first time). Hard tests but loves bio and helps you love it too!

Best prof I had at PCC, one of the best ever (attended Lehigh U, and USCGA). His lectures are fun and interesting, he obviously is super stoked on biology, which made me stoked on it, too. He won't let you slide though - turn things in on time, study hard, go to office hours, you'll get an A. Try to get by on basic concepts from HS, you'll struggle

Without thorough reading and detailed note-taking in lecture, you won't stand much of a chance. It's almost impossible to know for sure where you stand in the class because most assignments that you turn in will never be given back. The lab for 212 is much more difficult than the lecture portion.

I took his class a few years ago and I continue to use things he taught me in upper level classes. I'm surprised how many of my peers (at PSU) don't remember things that he really hammered us on. If you want to continue in biology this is a good place to start!

Micah is my favorite bio teacher to date. He embraces all learning styles with his teaching and is very open to requests. He made many accommodations for those of us who were visual learners when we asked. He wants you to truly understand the material, so he teaches it in creative ways. The book isn't necessary. He is very passionate and humble.

Micah teaches you not only biology but how to succeed in science classes. If you can pass Micah, you can pass anything. He teaches you how to be a rigorous scientist and viciously efficient learner. Even though I had a couple breakdowns during the year I took 211, 212, & 213 , I wouldn't have had it any other way. Micah prepared me for anything.

Micah is very disorganized, his class is difficult and he will test on things that he didn't cover in lecture. If you want to do well in his class you need to make sure you read and have a thorough understanding of the material. However he is kind and passionate and an overall great guy Defiantly not an easy A, but I would take his class again.

Micah is a very caring and understanding teacher, although he is funny and friendly, he is strict. No late work accepted, if you miss one week of reading you will fall far behind. This course is rigorous and difficult but prepares you for A&P 1. Lots of homework and a quiz every week, as long as you put in the time and effort you will do well.

Micah does NOT teach what you even need to know for this class. If you ask any questions that do not even come close to Bio questions but pertain to the information taught in class (i.e. Electrons orbitals; Go ask a Chemist) he very quickly dismisses your question. I do NOT recommend him at all. He isn't difficult, he doesn't explain things well.

Micah is by far my favorite teacher I've ever had. I cannot recomend him enough. He's a teacher first and a biologist second. He utilizes so many skills to ensure that lecture isn't dull and monotoned and so his teachers are able to really learn. I wish Micah could teach all my biology classes.

Micah is a tad disorganized, but prepared for class. He rarely gives classwork, so its hard to know how you are doing. BE DILIGENT IN STUDYING. He is a comedian and will make biology fun & relevant, but it will make you feel like the class is much easier than it is. Be prepared to hold yourself accountable and you'll have lots of fun.

It's biology's foundation, which means biochem. Having had chem classes before hand will make a tremendous difference. If not, just study consistently, constantly, and use all your resources (tutoring lab, group study, you tube), because there's a lot of detail. Instructor loves, loves, loves to teach. He's hilarious and generous.

I had Micah 2 years ago before I transferred to a University. I didn't really appreciate the class until I started taking upper division classes and students around me didn't know anywhere near what I did. Yes his class is hard but the way he tests and the expectations really got me ready for harder classes (yes they are even harder than his!)

Did everyone forget to mention he is more suitable for auditory learners?!! I nearly failed because I do not and can not learn from someone who does pure auditory lectures. DO NOT TAKE IF YOU ARE A TACTILEVISUAL LEARNER.

His tests are impossible to study for. The practice tests are crazy hard. Gets a lot of analytical questions from a "Analytical Problems in Biology" book that is wildly outdated. Do not take if you can't handle essay questions that are very comprehensive. Absolutely consult the textbook; his lectures are all auditory w nothing to reference.

While Micah is truly a passionate biologist and really enjoys teaching, his teaching style is definitely meant for auditory learners. If lecturing puts you to sleep or you can't remember a sentence after it's uttered and need class material (besides the book) to refer to, DO NOT take him.
