Professor Battig is a sincerely nice man. At first I thought he seemed a bit judgemental and hard-headed, but it turns out he simply just wants to be real with his students. I took his freshman seminar (pretty much a writing class), so he could be much different as a computer science professor where he would lecture instead of hold discussions.

Very annoying at times. Jerk. Arrogant. Anti-women. If you don't get along with him you're in for a rough semester. Pulls nasty tricks on programming assignments like not teaching something that would have been useful on a certain assignment until after you turn it in.

Teaching style inspire creativity in lab exercises. He is knowledgable and his grading is consistant, though very hard. If you are a CS major, Battig is a good teacher; if not go with Prof. Morrill or Pangborn. Battig is very helpful, but very strict with grading. He also has a personality: a rare accomplishment for anyone in CS.
