Baum is a great professor. Very knowledgeable, flexible with material and deadlines. Classes are not easy, but interesting and informative. The tests are hard, but he's usually willing to offer extra credit or a fluff "participation grade" to boost your grade. If you are a PoliSci major, definitely take him!

baum is extremely intelligent, but he expects way too much from his students. i think he sometimes forgets he is teaching undergrad, not graduate studies. his grading system and method of returning papers is atrocious. hand in one paper, get it back over a month later, 3 days before your next paper is due.

First of all, he is very smart and knows his stuff. That is where the good stuff ends, he is a very hard grader, he packs 12 chapters into the semester and grades the final on all of them. He I feel as if he really doesn't care about the class, just stuffing the material down everyone's throat.

Comparative Politics was an awesome class, I regret not working harder. He does push hard for a 100 level and this is not a course for an easy A, but if you're willing to put some time in to read the material and learn some things, it's rewarding. I managed a C+ while missing 6 classes and a quiz and not buying the book; it's not THAT hard...

Prof Baum knows his stuff, but hes not organized and he expects way too much. He sent so many current events on top of readings. For someone so intelligent, he never picked up on the fact no one understood what he was talking about. Plus he is an extremely hard grader. If possible avoid his classes.

The work is hard but he's an amazing professor. You will learn a lot in his class. Lots of reading but many oppurtunities to get an A (quizes, tests, papers, presentations). Very clear on what is to be expected. Overall great professor if you want to do the work. (Good for a poli sci major to take)

He is one of the best teachers I've ever had and he is a genuinely nice and cool guy. People shouldn't take his class if they're not willing to work really hard and come to class. But if you love international politics, it would be a huge mistake not to take this guys class. Thanks for everything Professor- you were the best!

If you do the work, you do well. He knows a TON. not a Bush administration fan at all. Study, do the readings, take notes, and go to class. He's willing to help after class- great for political discussions. if your portugeuse thats a plus. Hes a hard grader when it comes to papers though. nice guy. Pretty good looking too!

He relies too heavily on the CoursesWebPage to announce (at the last mintue) quizzes/tests/due dates, his lectures and review sheets are completely IRRELEVENT to tested material (i.e: after handing in a test on Germany he said "Alright, lets START studying Germany) he expects you to teach yourself.

VERY hard class. He makes the exams far more difficult then he has to. He wants to see his students study their asses off for his class. Interesting subject but you might opt for a different prof. if you're looking for an A

Wicked cool guy, HARRRd class, especially for a non-polisci major, since he teaches his class very geared towards polisci majors. makes you work your butt off, but in the end you're better for the experience....even if your GPA is not
