I sent her a few emails over the semester, never heard back. Our only correspondence was when she finally graded some assignments from September, it is December. Feedback after the semester isn't as helpful as feedback during the semester. Other than that she was unresponsive and her feedback was more rude than helpful or informative.

Honestly I did not enjoy her class she gave back one writing assignment but she does not hand back any paper work. she is honestly one of the worse professor in the History department but she's like the only professor to teach HST 201 which stinks. On that note god bless all of you ......

Her feedback was always negative and does not seem willing to help students. Throughout the course of this class it seemed like all the effort put into this class was not valued by this professor. Takes forever to grade assignments and respond to student inquiries.

The way she present herself will make you think the class is hard but she is not a hard person out of class. She will push you to work harder and that's one thing I love about her

This professor was by far the worst one I have had thus far in my college career. She was late to almost every class, we had four major assignments that she never graded or handed back, she pushed her opinion on to the students, and she frequently turned the discussion into a history lesson. But, if you do the work assigned then you should get an A

Rude and disorganized. Rarely got back to us about due dates or assignments, was always at least 5-10 minutes late to class. Never told us specifically when she cancelled class so sometimes SOME of us would show up and stand around for 15 minutes before giving up. Best part of the class was that all of us bonded over our hatred for it.

OKAY SO I had Rioux for Honors 101. And I'm sure that she's a great history professor, but she turned our Honors 101 course into a history/political science course halfway through, completely abandoning our community final project in favor of one about politics. Don't take her for Honors.

Overall, if you pay attention in class and read the book you will do great on her pop quizzes. They are usually incredibly easy. However, She takes more than 2 weeks to grade tests and is the toughest grader on essay exams. You will fail or do very poorly on the midterm exam even if you study hard, because she grades so harshly. DO NOT TAKE.

Professor Rioux is a nice person, but is so disorganized and scatterbrained her classes are miserable. She checks email supposedly once a day, but will only get back to you after email number 4 or 5, no matter how pressing the matter. 15 mins late to every class, and let us out 10 mins early, except the last class, where she let us out 15 mins late

Gives really long intricate lectures and your ability to pass this class relies purely on your ability to take good notes. She doesn't use powerpoints, so be ready to listen and type simultaneously. If that is not a strong suit of yours, I hope you're a good guesser. I would take this class again, and would only recommend it to good note-takers.

Before the Midterm, her opinion on events is THE most important part of class. She grades the midterm (essay format) on how you portray HER opinion. After that, you don't even have to listen, the final is all names and dates.

She purely lectures. Your success in the class depends heavily on your note taking ability. She is very nice and patient though a bit quiet. I would recommend sitting in the front two rows for her.

harsh grader. 20% of final is 15 hours of community service, you have to figure out what and where an how to get there. You HAVE to read the material, i tried studying lecture notes for tests but it she draws most questions from the text. i ended up with a d and it screwed my GPA, i recommend avoiding this one if your a normal student

I've taken three classes with Professor Rioux, and she is great. Yes, you will need to read the materials, take notes and come to class, because she takes her teaching and her students' learning seriously. She takes no prisoners, so don't come to class if you are not willing to learn. With the right attitude, you might learn something.

Hard class, lots of reading.. Her voice is too soft, you have to pay really close attention to her or you won't catch what she's saying. You need to make sure you focus on her lectures and write down notes because you will need them for the final and midterm. Overall she's chill but follow her rules

I really don't get why so many people dislike her. She tells you exactly what she wants out of assignments and her workload isn't even that bad. Follow her directions to a tee and you'll be golden. Her class really does prepare you well for the seminar. I would recommend her to other history students.

Love this woman. She helped out with my thesis paper every step of the way, from creating a good thesis to proper note taking to proper format. If you really want to know how to write a good history paper, she's the professor to take.

She gives lots of notes ONLY by lecture. She tells you exactly what's on midterm and final but her grading is HARSH! I tried talking to her about my tests/quizzes and she got defensive. I would not call this an easy class or one that's enjoyable.
