Fantastic. Really knew what he was talking about and facilitated discussions between the students. He is a tough grader but it was definitely worth it!

Professor Burton is the best , if you show effort he will give you an extra chance if he knows you can do better, quizzes are the best although i don't like reading i loved taking the quizzes and taking them as challenges to show me how well i read.

A lot of reading, poems and a novel. The novel is a great read. There are 3 papers to do and quizzes EVERY class, over the readings, right at the beginning of class. If you know you will miss a day, you can take the quiz early so you don't have a zero quiz grade. Easy A, just do the work and show up. You paid for it.

Prof. Burton is AMAZING; incredibly thought provoking in his rhetoric. There is alot of reading, but it is to be expected in Honors, on that note, DO THE READING BEFORE CLASS, there is a quiz and dicussion about it, class participation encouraged, oh, a big plus: smartly-saucy comments are appreciated as long you could back it up in your rhetoric

Excellent teacher! Explains things well, is easy going and keeps class discussion interesting. Gives quizzes on all the reading, but they weren't difficult as long as you had done the reading.

This professor AMAZING! To be successful in class you have to DO THE READING! Quiz come from the reading but they aren't extremely hard. You spend class time discussion the assigned reading. You have one major paper but he offers plenty of help. You do just fine. Class participation is huge. Outstanding professor, always willing to help.

I had Burton Back in fall 06 for my first college course. I still look back on his honors intro to english as one of my most formative courses, and appreciate his insight and wit. The type of thinking he engenders in his students is seminal for collegiate success, and he makes it look easy.

Prof. Burton is amazing! I took this class during Maymester 2010 and it's a lot of reading, but that's mandatory and necessary in any English Lit class. There were daily quizzes which were basic comprehension questions based off of the reading. There were no tests in the class, just one research paper and the final exam which was an essay. Great te

Burton is a really cool guy who doen't grade hard at all, as long as you have the basics he asks for in each paper... Make sure you are doing the required reading before each class, also don't be afraid to speak your mind, he likes it when people argue points, and he wants to hear your side! Do this and you will easily get an A+.

Professor Burton is the best. Although English was not one of my favorite, he made it that way. I even changed my major to English because of him. He is always there for you no matter what. I have had him 3 times for different courses. If you need another Lit class take his Native American Lit. it is an awsom class. I would take him again!!!!
