Though online class and very difficult subject. It is very confusing and the professor doesn't make it more understandable in the lectures if anything more confusing. You need the book and you have to read it entirely to get somewhere. Heavy discussion board participation and questions are not easy to answer. No homework. only 3 very difficult exam

Brilliant! Absolutely the best professor I have had, undergrad or graduate. You will have to do the reading to understand the lectures, but his teaching style is clear and insightful. Avoid his classes if you are just looking to "get by" but take his classes if you are planning for any professional career.

He's a great guy! He's there to help you if you need and wants to see all his students succeeding! I was worried how his class would be, but got the first exam grade back yesterday and I got an A! His lectures are heavy and challeging to understand which is good, so we are prepared for the real world... NOT EASY! Just read the book and attend class

Professor Carter is by far the best teacher I have ever taken at UML. He is extremely knowledge in his field and his class is fascinating. The tests can be challenging but if you pay attention in class you should do well. I highly recommend this class.

Notes assume you know everything they don't break it down, Your whole semester is based off 2 tests. Has you answer 6-10 review questions weekly then just passes out the answers as a whole so you have no idea what you are doing wrong and how to improve. He also gives a weeks lesson on the weeks of exam. You teach yourself with little to no help.

The written coursework in his class is geared more towards his peer group, for people who already understand Economics and have their MBA's and PhD's, and not for students who are trying to learn about Economics and earn their first degree. He needs to be introduced to the concepts of commas, paragraphs and what a run-on sentence is. Avoid.

I took his capital markets. You have to take notes. All take-home exams, but they're really long and will most likely take several hours, and will definitely need the textbook for them. No homework. He tells a lot of real life stories that are pretty cool. Sometimes he's a snooz-fest though. I would take him again.

Attendance not mandatory but you WILL need to show up and take a ton of notes to do well on the exams. Three grades in the course: two take home exams and a final project. He is very harsh when grading and if your answers are not EXACTLY what he wants he will take off points. Often gets distracted and goes on tangents. He does scale his exam grades

You have TWO exams the whole course, I had an issue faxing my exam, which ultiatmely turned into an F for my grade. I made ALL THE DISCUSSION BOARD posts, and attended half of the chats, just to receive a letter from the registrar saying I NEVER ATTENDED. He is hard, and does a crap job of responding to emails.

Only 2 grades for semester, and grading is not intuitive. No feedback. Will lower your grade if you do not participate in chat and/or discussion board to his satisfaction. Difficult to score well on tests--expectations are unclear. Not recommended.

Grading scale is not intuitive. Little feedback. Only 2 grades for semester. Missing one question on exam affects overall grade significantly. Be prepared for subjective grading instead of whether you get the material. Disappointed overall.

Took this instructor for Financial Mrkts - The guy has an ivy leage phd and has no passion whatsoever. His lectures are really boring and he delivers like we are all phds. The material (which is not that hard to understand) he makes extremely complicated and difficult. I took the same class at UMass Boston and it was so much more fun and exciting!

The class can be boring sometimes and he tends to go off topic but as long as you take notes your good. literally write down everything he puts on the board and then just be able to re do what he did on the take home tests. Two take home and one wall street journal project is it. I would definitely take another class with him.

His tests are easy since you are allowed to use cheat sheets and some are take home. I'm not really fond of his teaching style. He doesn't know how to make the class interesting, and most of the stuff that he writes on the board are not on the exams.
