Freshman Astronomy class should have been very simple. Does NOT follow syllabus. Does not answer emails or return phone calls. Don't take this class if you aren't a math or physics major. He doesn't teach Astronomy; he tries to teach Physics! Horrible!

Dr. Chester is an example of what all college professors should be. His courses are all difficult, due to the material, but he not only does an excellent job teaching in class but will ALWAYS make time to help you outside of class as well if you need help. If you don't enjoy physics, Dr. Chester is still an excellent teacher to have.

DO YOUR HOMEWORK. Exams are 180 pts (graded out of 150.) Lectures are fast-paced; he is very intelligent man but he sometimes forgets the rest of us aren't. Lab write ups are tedious (have to graph everything by hand and do error analysis.) Nevertheless, he's a great professor and is fair if you make an effort and learn most of the material.

Although his lectures are interesting and basically understandable, he STILL makes me want to bash my head in to the wall. Talks waaaay toooo fast. The tests suck and the textbook for the course stinks. Labs are fun; the tests are pure torture. He will nitpick you to death. Felt like I needed to throw up every day before class.

I really don't appreciate his verbal beratement. Could be an excellent prof. if he wasn't h*ll-bent on covering so much material. By his own admisssion in class, he doesn't care about teach anyone "but the top." Arrogent. Don't waste your time doing all the work, it doesn't help anyway.

First half of the semester is insanely hard. I just want to comment on the fact that if you try, he won't fail you. I tried, I went to the tutor, I missed only two classes, did all the lab work. I failed the course, and now have to sit through the insanity one more time.
