I took two of his classes as a grad student. The readings are mostly canonical, but he does not want conventional interpretations of them. The weekly assignments keep the class discussions focused rather than all over the place (as in some classes). He is the reason I went on to study 18th century Brit Lit in a PhD program.

Boring classes. I originally loved the subject, satire, but I fell asleep in class. Made a great subject boring. I was very disappointed. The grading wasn't difficult, but there was a lot of reading and essays.

Professor is funny, friendly and helpful. The class is highly dependent on what kind of people are in it. The more outgoing and interested the students are, the better the class is. Weekly papers can become tiresome after a while, but at least they are short.

The best teacher I have had in four years at Binghamton. Makes me laugh at the unqualified ones I have had here. I only got a B and did a lot of work and almost all the reading so watch out. Very smart, witty and enjoyable to listen too. The last day he gave us a lecture not so much on the final but LIFE.

This professor is very knowledgeable of his subject. He teaches it well, but expect to have to do a lot of work. Reading is somewhat heavy, but it's essential for your success in the class. This class wont kill you but expect it to be one of your tougher classes. He has a good sense of humor, and is very fair.

He has a great sense of humor. I didn't love the literature but enjoyed watching him disect students that liked to run their mouth. Conlon is a helpful professor that wants students to do well in his class, rare for Binghamton University.
