His classes are very interesting and he is a great lecturer. I had him before in a larger classroom setting, where I thought otherwise, but in this class of 25 people I really love the quaintness and inclusiveness of his lectures. I felt like he genuinely cared for his students, and he even grades the papers himself.

This prof has a big heart-really cares & has the talent of making challenging concepts clear. He is brilliant, & his lectures can render even Kant accessible. You can always ask for help, & will get it in spades. Do not expect to snooze, but then, why go to college if not to learn? This is the prof for people who love knowledge.

Loved his class. So far he's my favorite lit professor in UCSD. He's very friendly and nice always willing to help and clarify if you have any questions. His class is interactive and he lets you all talk together discussing the readings and lectures. The final is really easy too if you go to the lectures. Overall I loved his class.

He's a very nice professor, very approachable. He likes to hear the opinions of students and often initiates a discussion in class because of this. The papers are graded fairly, there isn't too much to read, the tests are reasonable, and one of the two essays for the final was a take home essay.

Modern American Poetry... is a daunting subject, but prof. Davidson makes it enlightening, amusing, and well-worth your time!!! He gets so giddy about great poetry (its cute) and that sort of admiration for clever writing is passed on to his students. So helpful and friendly. I disagree with the previous rater. I found Prof. Davidson's writing topics to be engaging & purposeful. He isn't an easy prof., but this isn't an easy univ. I met with him many times during OH & he was very helpful. A great guy all around. Course req'ts: 3 papers, films, couple books, & short writing responses. You won't regret taking him!!
