Comment:
For starters, this class is soley graded on exams and there is no homework or attendance grades. You can only show up on test days and pass if you know the material. His notes WILL end up on the exam. Final is all questions you have seen on notes. He does make the class feel dumb sometimes talking about his higher chem classes often.

A quality professor. He's the type of instructor who clearly cares about improving your understanding of the subject matter. Professor Hay makes himself available for any extra help he can offer. The homework he assigns in CHEM 110 is optional but it will definitely help you.

His lectures are very interactive. I suggest reading the related material BEFORE the lecture on it to best understand the concepts.

He's a nice guy and a decent lecturer, but the amount of material he covers in a short time can be overwhelming. Be prepared to study. A LOT. Make sure to keep up with the book work. His tests are REALLY hard and he'll intentionally try to trick you on them. Expect to have one quiz per week, and an exam every three quizzes or so.

Dr. Hay was wonderful. He made the material as painless as possible for non-science majors. The exams were simple; he told us what to expect, and he did not try to trick us. Take Chem 001 if you are a non-science major looking for an easy science GEN ED!

Definitely take Dr. Hay for a class if you get the chance. Great professor all around. The tests may be difficult, but if you ask questions during lecture, you'll remember it for the test.

I don't know what some of these comments are talking about. His exams are far from the most difficult in the world, and the same applies to the material. Attend all classes and know and do the practice problems in the book and you will get 100% on every exam.

He is an interesting individual and a kind man, outside of class. Inside of class he makes things more difficult than they need to be and is not always clear. Asking for help will often get you nowhere because he is unwilling to answer most questions or to help, and beware, exams are impossible and class average is usually a 50. A=unheard of

Very smart man who does his best to teach a very rigorous subject within a small amount of time. His exams are out of this world difficult if you don't study (class average is usually around 50%). He is a great teacher though and a very helpful person.

He is a nice person and very helpful in office hours. His lecture is sometimes drowsy but maybe it is because the materials he teaches are hard:( His exams are extremely hard!!! Online hw is annoying too.

this class was easy if you showed up and did your homework...MEMORIZATION is the key word to the entire class...if you just memorize everything, you will be fine...and if you cannot memorize, then hang on tight and try to understand his lessons because it may be rough...if you don't like chemistry or science, try to avoid this class
