Heiman has a lot of knowledge and wisdom to share. Gives great lectures. He's picky on papers, makes detailed exams, but will help you to succeed - he is working just as hard as his students (i.e. hands out notes for each lecture, is always available to students). It's a marathon, but you will undoubtedly grow as a student if you take this class.

Amazing prof. Heiman is a genius. His course was the most challenging I've taken in college. Studying for his exams is time-consuming, but they're easy to do well on. Very tough grader on papers and the pickiest prof on citations. Very stressful class, but also academically rewarding. Heiman is hilarious, and cares deeply about his students.

Everyone who has negative things to say about Prof Heiman were probably not willing to work hard enough to meet his *very* high standards...he has a lot of life experience in his field and demands perfection and respect from his students. He can be unclear and not always helpful, but get over it because thats life! Hes a good professor.

WORST Professor, he is so self-centered and appears to want to have discussions, but then just goes off on his own tangents. Also, he's insane about citations and he takes off points from papers for stylistic reasons. I was thinking about an ES major before this. Now, not so much. I really don't like him; avoid at all costs.

I love this man so much! He is pretty much the weirdest person you will ever come into contact with, but after you get over disliking him, you will learn to love him. He is fabulous but also unclear at times. Also probably the funniest person ever.

Good teacher, very interested in material and animated. His teaching style may not be for everyone, but I really had a great time in his class. It is hard though, both the tests and especially the final lab report so think twice if you're trying to do this just to get a requirement out of the way.

He's a little eccentric, but it makes for a very entertaining class and keeps you awake. He has fun with the material, and I feel like I've really learned alot. If you listen in class, the tests aren't that hard. The labs trips are pretty fun, especially the coal mine...
