He's straightforward in lectures. Some people think he's boring but the goofy math jokes and his chuckle are charming. Emphasizes the proofs and sometimes squeezes in an anecdote about the history of the theorem or the mathematician. Handsome. His computer program with a guy surfing a curve gives me hope.

Hvidsten is very difficult. He teaches the proof and then does very few examples, so its very difficult to apply what you're learning. However, you're allowed a notecard for the exams which makes the class very doable.

He teaches straight out of the book. He is very vague about things, and puts simple things into complex wording. Its okay if you understand, but if you dont understand, he is not good at helping you to. Funny laugh.

I had Hvidsten for Complex, and the class was really difficult. He didn't seem to be that interested in teaching the subject, either. He made up for it with some really generous grading, but at the end of the day I would have preferred learning more than the A I received.

Hvidsten is very straight forward and somewhat boring but is a great teacher. He is always willing to help and writes pretty reasonable tests. I would suggest taking him for Calculus 1 and 2 if you can. He also has a goofy laugh.
