Michael is a sassy teacher with a lot of knowledge, but his class is very demanding. His class is email based, and that is the way he corresponds with his students on a daily basis. Cancels class pretty often, but the meeting schedule can be a bit confusing if you don't participate in class.

Comment:

He was one of my favorite teachers at EIU, I took him both semesters my Freshman year. He cancels class almost once a week, he is very funny, occasionally swears, etc. As long as you go to college to actually learn you'll love him. He doesn't give out tests, only essays you have months to work on. If you ask him for help you'll do great

He was an ok teacher and very funny. However just because he's funny didn't mean he would be an easy A. You really have to work for your grade, but he cancelled class a lot. So I guess that's a plus.

Dr Kuo is funny and will meet w/ you and give feedback for as long as needed, but he expects most correspondence to be online over email. Essays are big deals, expect multiple 2000-2500 word research papers limited to peer-reviewed sources. Class only met physically about 1/3 of the time. Take him if you are good at writing, he rewards good work.

Your grade is based off of 3 research papers. Expect them all to be at least 8 pages. This class is very time consuming outside of class. He has classes like once a week and when you meet up class is only 30 minutes. This class is very challenging. Out of his three classes the highest grade so far is a B and that's one only student.

First thing, if you're offended by foul language don't bother taking him. Drops a lot of F-bombs. However, he uses them to get students through Shakespeare and boring material. Tests are papers you have weeks to work on, and he is very helpful with them. The papers however are quite long. Can't miss more than two classes unexcused. Very fair guy.

HE IS TERRIBLE if you have him you need to switch teachers NOW! He cancels class ALOT which may sound good but will leave you confused!! He doesnt explain anything and when you ask him for help he does not explain ANYTHING! HE is HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!! You dont not want to go through what I went through with him.

He is an awful teacher. I thought he was going to be a cool and easy teacher but he is not. He cancels at least one class a week after the first couple of weeks of class and when you do have class it only lasts for about 15 min, so he is not helpful. Very harsh grader and doesnt give clear instructions about anything. everything is a guessing game

Worst teacher I have ever had. Dreaded going to his class. His research papers were ridiculous. He made me cry. Not dropping his class when I had the chance was the worst mistake of my freshman year.

Probably the worst teacher in the world. Started out as a cool guy that was really funny (corny) and making everyone feel welcome in the class. But then when it came to teaching he was absolutely terrible. Michael Kuo acts like a teenager and I believe he is a recovering drug addict. Save yourself form this crazed man grades to hard u won't learn!

Coming into this class I though he seemed like a fun and helpful teacher, but it turned out I was wrong. His grading is absolutely ridiculous and I feel any student could do a better job than he is doing right now. He pretends to be smart and thinks he doing a great job teaching but in reality he has no idea what he's doing. DON'T TAKE HIM!!!!!!!

Horrible teacher. From what I've heard he must have changed the curriculum. You only get graded on 3 very lengthy and in-depth papers. He is very little help. He only keeps you in class for 30 minutes and speeds through what he is talking about so that he can leave right away.

He is not a good teacher at all if your actually coming to class to learn something. I believe he did not put in any work to any of his classes. I was required to write 2 papers for the class, a mid term which was 3 essays and a final which was 3 essays and i don't think he graded a single one. If you want to learn nothing take him.
