A lot of reading to do, but it's all worth it. Made midterm and final essays take home and the guidelines were easy to understand. He has the students decide their own grade based on participation/attendance/quiz and test grades. I would definitely recommend this teacher to any student

Professor Long is a fantastic teacher who knows what he is talking about. Far from conventional, he really makes you think, which is something that not many teachers do. Some of the the stuff he assigns is tough, but it is also very interesting, and he makes you get into it.

Etown's best! He is not a very conventional person in the methods he uses to explain material, which is what motivates you to think, understand, and respond. Come to class with an open mind and be ready to participate (this is important). It's ok to have different views! There was no judgement exhibited that I saw. READ FOR CLASS. And have fun!

His classes are so interesting. He listens to everybody's opinions and won't force his own on anybody. He's super smart and relates all you learn to things happening in the world. You have to read for every class though, and if you don't participate then don't expect an A. He's funny, and his classes NEVER bore me.

He is amazing at what he does. He ask questions to get the class to think. He plays devils advocate (no pun intended) without making the student feel bad about their own personal view. He isn't overly serious, meaning he likes to laugh and makes jokes, but he also takes our learning seriously and wants us to receive a quality education. Excellent.

I had no prior interest in taking this class, but it quickly became my favorite class. Dr. Long is a magnificent teacher and can make an 8 am class about Jesus fascinating, whether with the textbooks or his own personal stories. He had high expectations but was a reasonable grader. The debate and conversation in the class was always interesting.

This was the best class that I ever took. He is a very tough professor but pushes you to your limits which I liked. He doesn't push his opinions on you which is the best. If you show up and participate you should expect to do well in the class!

Had him for an 8:00 am. Incredible, he's a hardcore peace activist, but still taught me how to back my views for neccessary wars with theology. He's a prof who has a strong bias but doesn't force it on you like most blowhard profs. Top ten at Etown
