This guy is awesome, he does everything in his power to help you out and teach you what you need to learn and then some. He will not put up with BS and he will tell you what he really feels about something. Very worth while.

Comment:

Had mike for four semesters and have really earned respect for him. Be sure you understand the material and don't just memorize, his tests and exams are cumulative. Once you get out of the 100 level courses, he becomes more sincere than the shallow jerk he appears to be in 101 and 102. Definitely recommend if you're not a boob.

What can i say except that professor may is one hell of a character. He goes way beyond what anyother teacher gives in effort to try and help his students gain a true understanding of the material. By the time you go up to the "Emerald City" the classes will be easy with what you have learned from May. 97% of his students earn a degree in Columbia

Mr. May has an austere personality but he is exactly what you need when you are an engineering student. You will learn a great deal from him and he will do just about anything to help you as long as you are willing to help yourself. If you are thinking of goofing off then don't take him. I have tremendous respect for him.

He's great. I had him for 4 classes and enjoyed them all. He is extremely serious about learning though so if you want to goof off don't bother. He assigns a couple of homework problems per class but only takes up one or two of the problems. He can be intimidating but don't be scared to ask for help on the homework cause you'll probably need it.

Kinda scary the first day of class. I almost dropped his class. He is a very helpful teacher. Must do your homework to do well. Extremely nice. Takes up hw randomly. Makes it crystal clear that his class is serious and that losers shouldn't be in there. He promises to help, but won't help someone who's lazy. Act like you care!!

Professor May is an amazing teacher. He stresses understanding rather than memorization and does a great job at teaching the material. He's a funny guy. If you take this class, you need to do all of your homework because the tests are almost directly off of the homework. I thoroughly enjoyed his class, and I reccomend him to any engineering majors.

It takes about 2 class periods to find out why Statics is a 'weed-out' class for would-be engineers. This class is NO JOKE. Prof. May makes it look easy while you're in class but don't be fooled. Pay attention in class, do the assignments and don't miss class. Again, this class is NO JOKE. Prof. May is helpful and wants you to succeed.
