Comment:

The finance class was harder than most business courses, the class was large. I did feel that Prof Nugent did an excellent job lecturing the material, he used the Pearson lab for homework and tests. Which was great and provide feedback on the problems I got wrong. Warning not coming to class will hurt your grade he goes over a lot of problems.

Comment:

I really enjoyed the class time, we worked on team projects and he provided feedback. Don't take this class if you are not a good team player! I liked the reinforcement the class provided on excel and finance. I feel like I really know how to use excel now.

I took BUS 355 last year to fulfill my corporate finance VEE in order to become an actuary. I took my actuary exams and did very well, I can see that many of the exam questions were based on topics from this investment class, I like the fact that Prof Nugent used excel spreadsheet during the class and took the time to go over the formulas.

Comment:

The Financial Engineering class played an extremely large role in landing my investment bank job. I was given a financial excel exam and my boss said I was hired over Ivy League applicants because I had the highest score on the excel exam.

He's an amazing professor. Shows many examples. Makes concepts as simple as possible. Make sure you come to class everyday and do well on the zoom (that really messed up my grade).

mike nugent is a finance genius made me laugh out loud. mike never held a job for more than 3 years. guy thinks he is the smartest thing to ever walk the earth, but has no real accomplishments to be found. If you are the classic SBU business major you will love this guy, if you aren't.. you won't.

The professor rarely did any lecture. Two weeks ago, I had a question and I asked him in class, he didn't answer the question, instead he told everyone that he thinks I am not doing any work and not learning any class material. He accused me for Academic Dishonesty without even notify me first. Not to mention I did every homework on my own behalf.

Nugent is a finance genius. If you want real life work skills take this class. It is a ton of work so if you can't handle that, don't waste your time. Weekly excel team case assignments. Oh yeah, the textbook is a literal piece of garbage but is big part of your grade.

The professor himself is a nice guy, but does not teach anything. Its a lot of teamwork so your poor performance could effect other people too. He gives weekly team/individual homeworks but expects you to teach yourself by watching videos and reading the book. This class could ruin your gpa and semester. Think twice before taking it.

This was a summer online class, and was honestly the most effort I ever had to put into a project in 6 weeks(if you take during the summer, be prepared to work your tail off). His lectures are spot on, and wish I took for a full semester.

This class is extremely difficult the course consist of us going over spreadsheets in class but the test you take are based on the online homework's you do which have millions upon millions of steps to each problem so have fun memorizing tedious steps to those... I do not recommend this class at all

Nugent makes going to a 9am lecture on a Friday worthwhile. He is very reasonable with you and tells it like it is. He's very funny, and relates experiences to class material. Online hw, 3 online exams similar to hw (final not cumulative), a group simulation, and excel assignments. Go to class for help on excel hw, and prepare excel for exams.

He's a nice teacher and easy grader. The textbook is only useful on the exam. It is winter session class, so we only did four cases and six discussion questions. And I love the zoom business simulation.
