Easiest Organic Professor at Appalachian. I had him for Organic 1 and 2. I used the textbook to study for every chapter and it definitely helped. Wiley orion practice helps a lot so use your resources and apply yourself. Organic is difficult with any professor so your grade depends on your effort. Overall, good professor as long as you try.

always straight to the point during prelab. most labs will be done with a partner. sometimes he will tell you to skip parts of the procedure bc its redundant or not needed which saves you a lot of time. make sure you do all the pre-lab notes bc you get to use them on the quizzes. keep up w ur notebook in general bc those are graded as well.

his lectures are full of him rambling and can be a bit confusing, but a quick scan of the chapters before class will really help. his "pop" quizzes are always a week from the test. do the extra credit!!! it can save ur grade if you're on the border. his orgo 1 lecture is harder than orgo 2 but i think that has to do more w the material itself

Worst class I have ever taken lectures were not helpful the homework load was around 100 problems per chapter, the tests covered material not covered in class, only reason I passed was bc of chegg study and the textbook. Do your mental health a favor and dont take his class because it causes multiple mental breakdowns no matter how much you study.

ramey is genuinely a terrible teacher. the class average has bounced between being a D or an F, which does not get curved. every test average has been an F or a D. nothing is dropped. maybe if everyone fails its not the students fault but the teacher. if you take ramey, have fun retaking the class in the next semester! respect ur GPA and just dont

I had Dr. Ramey in both in O chem 2 lecture and lab and managed an A in both. This is a hard class- you will have to study hard, read the textbook some, watch online videos to help you understand, etc. However, Ramey really tries to help everyone understand the concepts. Grade comes from 4 pop quizzes, 4 tests, and ACS final. Take him for organic!

His tests have a multiple choice component and a short answer and the short answer are damn near impossible to do correctly when you're pressed for time. He will allow group quizzes some time, however be ready for them. This class is not easy, even if you are a genius.

Dr. Ramey is a good Organic professor. He covered the material in depth and was pretty easy to understand. His tests were part multiple choice, part short answer, and he tried to keep the questions reasonable. The tests do require you to understand and apply the material to a novel problem. Show up, take good notes, and watch some videos for help.

Class Average was a C-. His pop quizzes and test are brutal (The short answer messes a lot of people up). Also, He doesn't curve anything, but gives an extra 5 points to your final grade if you get at least an 80 on all the online quizzes. Nice guy, just a cutthroat grader.

I thought his sense of humor was cool he definitely keeps you interested the whole lecture. organic gets pretty intense at times so its nice to have a good teacher that downplays and clarifies little details the book might include that can confuse you. simplifies ideas in a way that makes it easier to apply them to more complex situations. take em

You have to study of course but it's not bad. Do the online quizzes and get an extra 5% on your overall grade, do the hw problems and go to SI. He's very clear in lecture and a fair grader, excellent teacher and glad I had him for organic. Definetly recommend him

Great teacher! Even though he is an interesting professor, get ready to do alot of studying, because it is organic chemistry. He breaks down the materials so you can understand and goes over most of the stuff on the test during classes, some organic teachers don't. Do your homework, its harder then the actual test questions and help alot

No doubt the class is tough but he makes it manageable. Dr. Ramey makes plenty of jokes in class to keep the mood light. He explains things very well and he helped me a lot when I visited his office. He is definitely one of the better professors in the chem dept. I will be taking him for orgo II

He is a good professor but if you don't know the material beforehand, it won't help you any. He does offer a little bit of extra credit that might help the final grade a lot. He explains his material well before lab but he is a very harsh grader of lab reports, I will recommend taking someone else for lab if you have a choice.

He was a nice guy but he doesn't teach. He states facts. I would def take him before anyone else in the chem dept for organic, but if you struggle and you can't get it on your own then don't bank on him being able to explain it in any other way. The key to success is doing the HW and doing it in groups so someone can explain it in another way.Gluck

I enjoyed Dr. Ramey. When I started Org Chem 1 I thought "there's no way I can get through this class" but he made it possible. His lectures are great and he puts all the power points online. Reading over the power points and going to SI helps a lot! He gives pop quizs that you can't make up unless you have a good reason. I recommend!

Hate him! I really thought he was a nice guy at first and helpful. But he is such a harsh grader of lab reports. One day I went to him for some help on a lab report and he completely turned me down, wouldn't help at all just said sorry and gave a shrug. Incredibly mean man take crook instead for lab if you have the choice
