Comment:

One of the best classes I've had in college. It was a laid-back morning discussion of politics, and he taught via the Socratic method - he proposed questions and we explored them through our reactions to them. Attendance is mandatory but if you are sick he won't hold it against you. Textbook is "mandatory" but you don't need it. Amazing professor.

First off: EXTREMELY BORING. I never thought of Rear's class as being easy until I thought about the semester after it was over and saw that I got an A without putting in much effort. He assigns no work, just lectures.I had him during the semester of Hurricane Sandy, so we only had 1 paper and final, because he had to cancel in class tests.

The material is extremely boring, very dry and his lectures do not help. He keeps you the WHOLE time and some. His schedule no goes as planned and it's hard to keep up with his lectures and the readings. Best of luck. Try not to fall asleep.

This is one of the most boring professors in the Political Science department. There are so many other professors that you could take instead of Prof. Rear. The classes are all lecture with minimal classroom discussions. I would avoid.

Avoid! Really boring professor. Puts you to sleep, which makes it hard to concentrate resulting in lower grades. Not the hardest material, but an already boring topic has gotten even worse and wants you to participate. No papers though, just tests.

AVOID AVOID AVOID - This man is easily the worst teacher I have had in my entire life. He is a very hard grader and will NOT review for his tests or explain what will be on his tests. Following the syllabus to figgure it out will do you no good. Take it from a student with a 3.7 gpa - you will bust your ass to get a D for this guy. DO NOT TAKE.

He is a very boring professor. Hands you the syllabus and tells you that you are responsible for reading the material{Teach your self basically}, he lectures slow, gives 3 exams which are not pointed out from what you have read. The final is on all 16 chapters of reading, NOT RECOMMENDED.. Take some one who actually teaches a lesson

He was a nice person but I didn't like his curriculum. There was a six chapter midterm and a 16 chapter final. Both included essays. He's a hard grader. Studying for the final is a major hassle. Being in his class was a bad experience.

just a horrible professor. you wont learn anything. sleep in class and try to read all the chapters before the test. No homework or quizzes or anything. Hes so slow we only had one test and the final. Its like listening to a snail talk. Every lecture was drawn out and just retaught stuff from last class plus a few new things. AVOID AVOID

Boring class. Do anything you want during class just copy notes off the board before class ends. Test was easy notes are the essays, and study the bold words on the side of the page and you'll do fine. Dropped lower of first two test for my class. Easy class recommended by someone who isn't a great student

If you attend class and do some of the readings, you shouldn't get less than a B. If he talks about a specific subject for more than three classes, it's an essay question and essays are big in exams. I found the lectures quite interesting. He covers topics that will help you understand what's going on in the world and how our government operates.

Dr. Rear is a very good teacher. The only complaint is that he is slow. His tests are easy and the essay questions are so obvious because if he spends three classes on the topic, you know it's an essay. Interesting Lectures and Interactive class.
