22 yrs have passed and he's still harvesting paycheques. Let's hear it for tenure! I wore a hammer/sickle pin and got good grades with min. effort. Girls would wear seductive clothes with the same effect with their marks. He confessed he drove home a different way each day "because the Mil. tracked his whereabouts" Uh-huh... Clever yet wacky.

I had 3 classes with Wallace 10 years ago. Yes, he is unapologetically sympathetic to leftist elements, but he knows his material, and is fair to ANYONE with an opinion. Was nice to have a prof who wasn't a parrot of department attitudes like Sens and the others. Besides, looks like the same idiot on here writing all the negative comments.

Without question one of the most feeble profs in the Poli Sci dept. I graduated a number of years ago and I'm sorry to see nothing has changed. Nothing to do with his politics and everything to do with his arrogance, rudeness and what struck me as a lack of original thought.

Wallace is not as bad as his reputation on this website suggests. Please be aware that he is an unapolegetic uber-left wing prof. He sometimes comes off as being unaccepting of other political viewpoints. Hate Bush = do well in Wallace's class. Easy marker, interesting material.

The class isn't very difficult, but it seems like he's always got a chip on his shoulder and doesn't want to be teaching anymore. The paper requirement is long, and he's not really that helpful in directing you towards a good thesis. Take it if it intrests you , but be warned that you're pretty much going to be teaching yourself.

Arrogant, pompous, boring, and rude. Goes on about himself and how intelligent he is. Said he was the smartest poli.sci prof at UBC, goes off topic all the time, doesn't bother with class discussion. Took 4 emails, 1 voicemail before he finally responded in a discourteous manner. You can learn the class yourself using the internet, waste of money!

Let the record show - I took a class with Wallace 20 years ago. And judging from these reviews, he's still as big a jerk as ever. Thinks he's sooooooooooo smart, but it all comes down to how well you vomit out his arguments in a paper or on an exam. But, on the other hand, I have found the sucking up skills honed in his class to be useful.

Content is a collection of his boring stories, has zero academic value. He doesn't foster dialogue between students resulting in people usually just being apathetic and bored. Marking is totally arbitrary, so you may do well or poor, but your mark has nothing to do with effort or inelligence, when in doubt just bash America and capitalism.

Absolutely LOVED the lectures for first 2/3 of the term - I'd sit entralled by his stories for 2H 45mins! But he seemed to repeat stuff by the last 1/3 of the term, so that was a little boring. Definately has a clear stance on the issue - you'd do well to support his stance on papers and exams.

Its about time a prof openly expresses his/her disdian for the establishment and Pres.Bush. loses the class in his stories. Cool but agonizingly repetitive. Know that he assumes that 3rd year students read the materials and dont need to be given direction on papers. Lectures are supplementary.

An interesting prof but tends to go off topic A LOT. This is probably b/c he has so many stories and experience to share. Some might find his sarcasm offending but overall a good course to take if you want to know everything there is to know about nuclear weapons. He's the guy to learn it from.

Could someone remind this guy that the cold war is over. Overall I liked this professor and enjoyed his lectures. I suspected a lot of what he says is made up, but his lectures are entertaining. He is rude and gruff and I suspect that he has little respect for women. Note, he's often sick and absent

His lectures were very interesting but he has a definate position on certain issues-don't try to go too hard against them!? Some times I wished he would just get to the point already!
