This is a tv studio class, so yeah, it's important you show up since that's almost all that you're graded on. I learned SO much in this class and Mike is very helpful. Even though the class can be intimidating, he'll give you good feedback. He's very available outside of class too. Take him if you're interested in film at all.

The best film professor hands down. If you are at all interested in film or TV production, take a class from Whalen, he is always around to help you. Class is always interesting and engaging, and though not necessarily easy, he makes you want to do your best.

I've had professor Whalen for Comm 30 and Comm 171. He's very personable,very knowledgable, and very straightforward. He wants to see his students succeed and does what he can to help. He's one of my favorite professors in the comm department and everyone should take at least one class with him!

Professor Whalen is a GREAT professor. Not only will you learn a lot from him about filmmaking and film history, but he is such a nice guy too. He's really accomodating to one's needs and is very willing to help you get the best grade possible. I hope to take another class with him again!
