Shes really funny. I hate English & poems but the way she reads the text always keeps me interested. 5 Quizzes but its really easy true or false. Super caring and wants you to pass.

She is a tough grader, she was an okay professor to me. She gave a lot of extra credit to pull your grades up and she was always willing to help

She is so much fun! Every time she gets excited, she'll start talking with you. I don't think you should take her if you don't like English though. Remember to do the rough drafts and pay attention to her comments and you will be fine. Loved the reading material!

If you have any other options to fulfill your requirements for your degree I recommend you choose otherwise. She is an exceedingly hard grader, she gives you corrections on your paper and when you correct them and have her check over them she will still give you a low grade. One positive thing is that she gives you a cheat sheet for your tests.

Professor Burstein is really funny. That being said, be prepared to READ and it won't hurt to brush up on your writing skills. The papers aren't overly long, but she's a realllllllly tough grader on essays. She gave us 2 tests, both of which were allowed a full-page cheat sheet. If you read and can write, you should be good.

Very tough on papers, she will correct your draft and you can fix everything she suggested and she'll still take off points on the final draft. No tests, just papers. Other than the papers, the class is really just reading.

Grades way too hard. She'll rip your paper up, you'll fix it how she said, and then she'll correct the things she's already corrected. Be prepared for your GPA to drop. Course was miserable.

Have taken a total of 2 classes with her. It does help if you already have some interest in the subject. Although she is a tough grader on the essays, the exams are EASY. I mean, you get a cheat sheet to write whatever you want on it. Doing poorly on the exams simply means you didn't take the time write down what you needed. Quizzes she announces.

Sherlock Holmes should've been interesting, not tedious. Readings were okay, but discussion didn't really help me learn. I feel like there was some wasted time. Don't put off your final paper. I ended up writing it all in one day! Participate and act like you know what you're saying. I got lucky with a B in the class.Don't make my mistakes: read!

I thought I was a good writer until I took this class. She is an extremely hard grader. I recommend going to her office hours AND seeing a writing tutor to get through the essays. Cheat sheets on the midterm and final are helpful though!

Professor Burstein is the type of professor we need more of. I'm happy she's around because she's someone who is taken seriously (and should be) in a college environment that is often laughable. I think everyone who is complaining about her is probably lazy and doesn't want to be held to any sort of expectations.

She is not very nice. she grades ridiclously hard. she loves to give a lot of comments, and corrections on your first draft. but even if you correct all that she wants and do what she asks in her comments she will still tear apart your final. i would suggest getting out of her class at any cost, or your GPA will most likely drop.

Professor Burstein expects students to be as well read and articulate as she is. 420/520 class not a good idea from the undergrad perspective because she obviously favors the more learned graduate students. HARD grader, but fun and easy to pay attention to in class. Her class will lower your GPA dramatically.

Yes, she is a tough grader. Yes, she values perfect grammar, and yes, your grade will suffer for it. Utilize her office hours, you're stupid not to. There's really nothing to "hate" about Dr. Burstein - she's awfully nice.

She is extremely difficult and you will see a drop in your GPA if you have her. But she is extremely nice and loves it when you can be funny and comfortable around her. My grades were not what they used to be but i am definitely a better writer because of her class. Be prepared to work your you know what off.

She's a ridiculously tough grader. Very sarcastic. Will revise your paper but will still take points off. I love her as a person but she's out to lower your gpa. Be funny, she likes that. She's also very understanding about technical issues.

I don't see what everyone is complaining about, she will challenge you, but it is worth it in the end. It is obvious she has a passion for what she is teaching, you just have to be willing to put fort the effort in order to do better than "just getting by".
