My favorite AH professor at BU. He really loves what he teaches, and he's super enthusiastic about the topic. You can pass without reading if you go to his lectures and pay attention. Really great help outside of class, and takes the time to explain everything if you go to office hours. Favorite class I've taken at BU.

Michael Zell is one of the best professors I've ever had. As well as one of the hardest. A ton of reading and analysis and work on the class. But he will help you and encourage you with your work. the class is not easy, but you will learn an incredible amount.

Loved this teacher. Fascinating to listen to. It was a pleasure going to class. However, he grades his paper and exams pretty harshly. The paper is a long research paper and for the exams you just need to memorize every single image studied and know the analysis by heart to just get a B...

wasn't too thrilled ab baroque art but he made me love it. amazing lecturer, really knows his stuff. midterm/final are kind of difficult, but you can do well if you REALLY study hard. way too much reading, i didn't bother. kind of condescending but he means well. get there early for office hrs, espec around paper time--there is a LONG line, always.

He was very interactive during lectures. Clear and throughout explanation on materials. First exam was basically on memorization on nearly 300 slides, which i found real hard to study for. Couldnt comment on grade since grade was basically on the papers, the exams, and participation in discussion.

Pro. Zell is amazing. Has a great love for art history and shows it well! Explains each work thoroughly and with such enthusiasm. Sad that he only taught half a semester...
