He wasn't nice to me the first week of class when I showed up late, and I showed up late because of a disability. He would proceed to call me out during class, even despite my interest in the subject matter. I'm actually really shocked he has a high review on here, because my experience with him was very unpleasant, so I dropped his class.

He is old and his insight of the world is life changing. If you read before class and participate during lecture you will be golden. You have 3 essays during the semester but are only required to write 2 which he gives extra credit in. Some lectures can be long and not that interesting but during that time he gives you everything you need to pass.

The beginning of the semester was a breeze with Professor Reed. Three essay tests, no homework at all, which is awesome. He gives full instructions for tests on his personal website for the class. If you follow the directions on the instructions you SHOULD be fine unless he doesn't like something in your essay, then he won't even read your essay

This class is an easy A as long as you show up to class and have a general understanding of the stories read in class. You have two in class essays and a final, which makes up your whole grade. Although if you get good grades on the essays, you don't have to take the final. Very easy grader. You must attend lectures or he kicks you out.

Dr. Reed is a interesting and well educated man. He often goes off topic when relating subject to the readings however the class is relatively simple, just pay attention and read and it's an easy A. He makes Am. Lit very interesting so it isn't hard to pay attention. 3 essay exams: short stories, poetry, and plays. He is a lenient grader too!

Dr. Reed was awesome, I wish I could take him for every English class. You need to buy the textbooks as you use them in every class. Be sure to engage in the discussions he proposes. He tends to get a bit off topic and tell a long story, which is fine by me! Three essays are your only grades.

Took Dr. Reed for American Lit and it was the easiest class. He does expect you to read but he will go over the story in class. His wife sometimes teaches and she is very interesting to listen to. They are both very knowledgeable.

Awesome class! Took it for Summer ll, sounded hard at first with so many readings but he makes them look so easy! Attendance is mandatory but its fun! 3 exams, we didn't have to take the third one though he was cool enough to let us not take it if we liked our grade. Got a 102 & a 109 in my exams. I didn't like English Lit but he made it enjoyable!

Dr. Reed is such an amazing professor! You can tell that literature is his passion. His lectures are very interesting. Take notes when he discusses each story. Make sure you read the material before you enter class! Attendance is MANDATORY! You also only take 2/3 exams, but those are fairly easy. Must take him for American Lit!

His expertise is on the Puritans! He goes into very much detail so take the notes, that's what a big portion of the 1st exam will be. You study everything from Captain Smith all the way to Poe and Whitman so it's all the early American stuff literally, but it's so interesting! Got an A, but I definitely worked for it.

Love this old man! He has one of those brains that retains EVERYTHING. He has a phD both in English and Philosophy (you would guess in History too, he knows exact dates!) He lived through so much he even knew Hemingway! Easy grader :) but read, he picks ppl in class! He only have us 2/3 exams and my lowest grade was a 102 which he doubled!

He is an awesome professor. He did give us the third exam and allowed us to use the grade of our first exam as our final. Grades very fairly and doesn't give writing assignments. He is also very funny as well! Books and attendance is required for class. So dont skip out on buying the books or skip class. Definately recommend!

Awesome professor! No quizzes. No extra writing assignments. Just 3 tests on which he grades leniently and gives extra credit questions. Easy A overall. Just make sure to get to class on time because he closes the door and attendance is mandatory.

DO NOT BE LATE! He shuts his door at the exact time that class is scheduled. If you open the door, he will kick you out in front of the class. You are only allowed to have three absences or he'll drop you. You are required to purchase the textbook, even though you can find most stories online. Easy A if you read and be on time.

He can seem pretty intimidating at first. He likes to tell alot of life stories that he has and about the news. The class consists of 3 written test exams. I recommend that you read ahead because he sometimes does call on students. He not that picky when grading the exams!
