He is one of the best professors at ACU. I have taken both his History 117 and 118 classes. I would love to take any of his other elective history classes when I can. His class is easy as long as you use Quizlet. Literally all his quizzes are on there. Plus the first 36 test questions are your quiz questions. It is so hard to fail unless you try to

Professor Cullum's class is like watching paint dry. He talks endlessly at a constant drone. He took zero interest in his students and never cared to take the time to learn his student's names. Gets personally offended when you miss class, does not allow makeup work. Quizzes almost everyday except for test days. Avoid if you can.

He no longer does poetry memorization which is good. He was a great teacher and if you read the textbook and go to class the tests and quizzes are easy. He drops the 3 lowest quiz grades which really helps. Overall he is a great teacher and will be taking History 118 with him in the fall.

He assigns poem memorization? Still don't know how that involves history. Each test you need to memorize one more poem and another and another. He is also very monotone and just sucks at teaching. I hated his class so much.

Long rambling and confusing lectures. Most of my fellow classmates would use the following words to describe Cullum: bizarre, squirrel, and jerk. These were the nice terms used by other students. This guy is not nice and, by far, the worst professor I've ever had! My love of history was severely damaged taking his class. ACU needs to lose him!

He has long lectures and can be funny during those lectures. You must memorize poetry. I don't recommend him, but if you do STUDY STUDY STUDY. READ THE CHAPTERS EACH WEEK! Tests can be easy if you study. Final counts for 30% of your grade.

This was one of the worst classes I've taken in school. His grading is COMPLETELY subjective and arbitrary. He told me just looks over tests and estimates a grade based on generally how well he thinks you did, meaning his grading is very in consistent. Also, he insists you learn his way, even if you are successful by doing it differently.

I do not recommend him as a professor AT ALL. He has you memorize poems (of his choosing) for every exam. His exams are impossible to pass, as are the quizzes. He offers no extra credit. His tests are impossible to study for. I tried so hard in this class and still didn't pass.

The class can be daunting at first with the weekly quizzes, poetry memorization, and frequent tests. However, it is all worth it, all the quiz questions will be on the test and makes sure he covers everything on the test. He can move fast, so pay attention. I love history so I took both Civ 1 and 2 as electives, and enjoyed both.

Fantastic professor and worthwhile class. High speed and intense lectures but makes sure any material on tests is covered in class and includes previous quiz and test questions as a part of future exams. Requires poetry memorization, which can seem daunting at first but in the end is extremely rewarding. Overall outstanding and captivating class.

Blisteringly intelligent, and consequently very hard to keep up with sometimes. Tough subject and a tough teacher, but if you engage, you can learn a lot. I would highly recommend this prof to anyone who actually WANTS to learn. If you want an easy pass-stay away. Extremely funny if you can follow his jokes.

Awesome professor. A harsh, but really fair teacher who grades essays for betterment, not to be hard. If you read and make a clear opinion that makes sense, he'll grade according to your opinion. He's awesome, and really funny. Take him if you want a good professor who knows what he's teaching and is hilarious.

Dr. Cullum is a great professor. He is undeniably an absent-minded professor, but he loves what he teaches and is extremely intelligent. I have taken three classes with him because I enjoy his teaching style and the way he incorporates modern and classical books into the class.

HATED this class. Very close-minded, opinion papers were basically supposed to be HIS regurgitated opinions, not the students. Obviously biased, EXTREMELY close-minded. First test- don't bother reading the first three chapters of Perry, waste of your time. Far too harsh grading scale, tests cover material from book that's NEVER discussed. Horrible.
