Awesome professor. He explains things very clearly and takes care to make sure everyone understands the material. Only requirement is to attend lectures as he doesn't post much online - so if you miss anything you won't be able to get it later.

Prof Barbeau is not a bad prof, in fact he is an excellent professor and cares deeply about his students. Go to class, pay attention, and take notes, otherwise you won't get anything out of this class. No exams because he feels that a project will help you better prepare for your career than an exam score. He gave us advice like we were his kids.

One of my worst professors ever, I don't think I learned a single thing. His classes are structured terribly, his notes is small writing on the board of a huge lecture hall that nobody can read. No direction or structure, just talks about stuff without actually teaching you anything. I hope I never have to take a class like this again.

This is my second degree(sciences) and this is the worst prof I've ever had. Abysmal lecturer, absolutely no structure or pacing. Supporting material is basically random cut and pastes with no context. This is the worst put together class I have experienced in my life. This man is absolutely pathetic as a professor.

Probably very knowledgeable but horrible at conveying it through lectures. He can talk for 5 minutes strait without actually answering your question. My entire class is continuously lost, people stick their hands up and say they don't understand anything he has said. I don't want to be mean but I will never take a course from him again.

Decent to approach outside of class, but lectures have no coding examples. You essentially attend class for hints on assignments which hardly helps, you're just there waiting for directories. I understand the significance of MINIX, but completing the assignments is impossible without getting help from TAs. Once again learned nothing. Common pattern

Great method of teaching but sorry you didn't teach me ANYTHING about operating systems. 4 of your 10 assignments were basic stuff we learned in 2401, and the other 6 were hardware level math problems. Was looking forward to this class with Anil, he actually teaches you how to hack the kernel.

No final exam, the main grading component is a creative group project. The course is interesting, the more you invest the more you get back, but it isn't a hard course. Would recommend taking as an elective.

Professor Barbeau is a very helpful and Knowledgeable professor. I really learned a lot from his class. The assignments are not hard. Don't skip the class and read the course material you will be fine. If you are interested in the wireless network and want to know new stuff in this area, this course is the best choice.

Great, this guy genuinely cares about his students and somehow knows all of the students by name at the end of semester. Group projects are always a part of his classes and are very open ended.

What a joke! how can this dude be teaching 3D games without having any technical background or publications in computer graphics or image processing. He is a very weak researcher even in computer networks (supposodly his area of research as he claims). Absolutely a waste of time being in this gaming program.

Terrible. This guy would rather talk about what hes interested in (Networking) then the fundementals of an OS. When I asked him for guidence on my term project (dealing with the task manager) he replied he had no experience with that. What! your kidding me right? He teaches OS but doesn't know anything about task managers. Thanks for nothing
