This professor is great, but don't buy the book. Grade depends on one homework assignment, three tests, and an essay/book review all of which are pretty easy and thoroughly explained. Book wasn't needed for any of it. Test material is entirely based on her lectures so definitely show up to class often. Other than that, pretty easy A.

Chillest professor ever! She's very accommodating and her lectures are great. I've had her for 3 classes and never even had to take a final. Also it is a must to take her for 200.

Without a doubt the best HIS 200 teacher. She gives three 3 page writing assignments and three easy presentations. It's impossible not to get an A as long as you turn stuff in and use Chicago formatting since that's basically the class. She's super nice and helpful and always let us out early. If you have the chance definitely take her!

If you have a chance to take a class with Michele Thompson, take it. You will learn a lot as she is very passionate about history especially in regards to Southeast Asia. Her exam outlines are the actual exam, which covers what she lectures about in class so attend her lectures. If you are a student who puts in effort, this class will be a cinch.

I took her for HIS 105, my freshman year, and to be honest the class was very interesting. The structure was a bit unusual, but it still was a great class. There were tests, papers, and readings. The readings did help clarify topics we talked about in class. There were a lot of movies, which were very cool and interesting.

Do not buy the book! You will never use it. Make sure you go to class because the whole class is her lecturing. Her test reviews are the test so make sure you actually do them. I had her once a week for two and a half hours but she never kept us passed an hour and a half.

Excellent professor for a senior seminar class. Allows you to pick your own topic and is there with you along the way. In class assignments are pretty easy even though it is a heavy reading load to have for also working on your own major paper. If you screw up your paper a bit you can still pass if you do well in your participation grade.

teacher is all over the place. no powerpoints, just lectures. DOES GIVE A GREAT STUDY GUIDE before each test, and the work required is very easy. the class is interesting, and she is very nice, yet she skips around so its hard to look back at your notes and study for the exams

Lets put it this way, she brought back clothes from Vietnam for my children. I kept in touch with her for years after SCSU. She is an amazing professor and an even more amazing person. If you take an interest, you will have a true friend in the field. People like this are hard to come by. This is a person that can impact your your life.

I had a minor in Dr. Thompson LOL Took five courses with her. She is the best at SCSU without question. She cares, she does knock you over the head with ego (even though she could), and she encourages student discussion. She is what you want in a Professor if you are a serious student. TAKE EXTENSIVE NOTES, DON"T MISS CLASS. You won't want to:)

EXCELLENT teacher & very knowledgeable. There are a lot of notes (she can go pretty fast, but she stops for questions along the way), so you absolutely need to be there. Wait to buy your book until you choose for your book reports, because you won't need the others. Straight-forward but time consuming tests. Take this class!

AMAZING PROFESSOR! This is a great class to take in place of your general history requirement. She is truly THE BEST Professor I have had at SCSU (and I am a senior!) She is clear, precise, and has a true passion for the subject. I learned so much! Great course.... DO take!

She is simply one of the BEST. Her class was interesting, and if you have any interest in the subject she's teaching, she will suck you right in. This class was what I would expect for a 100 level history course. Has you do a book review on ANYTHING relating to Southeast Asia because she really tries to get you to do something you enjoy. LOVE HER!

I really like her, very nice, loves teaching and her students. Very interesting material, but this was a tough class. Not an easy A. Even though she gives you study guide with the questions and essays to be on exam, she is VERY particular about the essays. She wants it ALL, remember every detail. Final essays were a beast! But I loved the class!!

She is an awesome grader. Easy essay papers and easy extra credits. She really knows her stuff. I would take any class she is teaching!!

Professor Thompson is a great professor. She's very easy to understand and always stops for questions. Three exams and a book review all of which were very straightforward. Grades very fairly and is always available for outside help. Definitely recommend this professor over all others in the history department.
