How can people say this class was good? It is definitely one of the worse classes here at Emerson. Michelle is a tough grader who loves to talk about herself. Be prepared to read A LOT. Her lectures are not useful at all, she rarely explains the readings. She loves to not explain it simply and clearly, but rather make it more confusing.

Michelle is a wonderful and passionate professor. HOWEVER, only take this class if you have little to nothing else in your schedule. If you can manage to do as she asks, the class will be a breeze but the course load is so incredibly dense I found it to be impossible for most of my peers and I. The tests require a solid comprehension of text; read.

A hard grader compared to other teachers, but responsible. However, I don't think it's good to take her class if you want to know "multi-culture". Her opinion is too one-sided because she constantly thinks in American way instead of "multiculturally". And she's a vegetarian so be prepared to be brain-washed by not-killing-animal theories.

Michelle is great. Really. Do your reading and you'll be fine. Anyone who says her class sucks is probably just mad that they got challenged. She really cares about her students, and likes to know about what makes you you. She is awesome. Take her class & you'll be a better student for it.

Michelle is the most authentic professor I've ever met at Emerson, and I would recommend taking her class just for her wisdom and insight. US Multicultural Literatures really changed my perception on a lot of topics - but if you don't like reading (a lot), environmentalist and feminist viewpoints, or being challenged, don't take the class.

It could have been a great class, but this professor made it impossible. Instead of actually discussing the material, she usually ends up spending the entire class period going on random tangents where she scolds the class and the human race for global issues. She definitely picks favorites and is a rather difficult grader with little explanation.

The best professor you'll ever meet in your life. She is hard and a tough grader, but so what, it's college. She is hard on her students to make us better. You will learn so much from the readings and about life from taking a class with her.If you want to become a better student and person, take this class. Got an A for working hard.

She is a very miserable teacher. I met with her multiple times and she rushed me through my questions and made me feel unintelligent. She assigns 50-100 pages of dense literature reading for each class and seldom goes over the material. She is also a very challenging grader and no matter how much effort you put in, you will be disappointed.

Michelle is a fascinating person overall who is very passionate environmentalist. That said, I think her expertise is better suited for a sustainability class, more so than a literature class. The reading load is heavy, the mid terms, hard. She is a harsh grader with her paper assignments. If you have a life, don't take the class.

Stay AWAY. Uses the class to further her own agenda rather than discussing the literature at hand. Completely unprofessional presentation of the material, and very one-sided.

She is one of the most amazing people you ever want to meet. She surely doesn't baby you but in the end you'll appreciate it. She opens your eyes and shows you life. You'll realize that you matter and can make a difference. I can go on and on. I love her forever. Take her class if it's the last thing you do!

She literally made me see the world in an entirely different way. She was challenging and has strong ideas, but was the best professor I've had at Emerson. She also likes to yell sometimes.

At first I was scared because I heard so many bad things about her, but after taking her class, I have to admit that I learned more from Michelle then from any other professor at Emerson. You have to do the work, and attend class if you want to keep up--but Michelle is smart, kind, and an absolutely incredible professor if you give her a chance.

If I had a son or a daughter I want him/her to go to a college where all the professors are like her. I learned life from her. A little bit scary sometimes but very nice in heart. If you really want to learn, take her.

Michelle is the best professor I have ever had at Emerson. I would literally take Statistics if she taught it. She is SO smart, SO articulate, and really really knows her sht. She cites her sources and backs everything she says up too. Don't take this class if you just need to fill a requirement because she will whip your ass into shape.

She is unnecessarily harsh. Completely ruined any self esteem I had going into this class. I've never worked harder on a paper at Emerson, and I've never gotten a worse grade. Attempted to receive an incomplete from her and she failed me instead.

I think Michelle is a really underrated professor at Emerson. She's ridiculously smart, and yes, she's very opinionated, but she challenged me and completely changed the way I read and think about literature. I learned more than I ever thought I could in her class.
