I took Spanish 8, and French 2, 3, 4 & 8 with Professor Aparicio. It is so delightful to be in his class in these 5 semesters. He is very fair and he loves teaching. French is not an easy language, but his dedication makes me understand français very well. He has been teaching for decades, so trust his natural method. Listen well what he informs!

DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!!! You have been warned. This prof. will absolutley ruin your transcript. It is incredibly difficult to do well in his class, he never teaches, he constantly breeches conduct, allows some students to cheat and special privileges, and other students he is harsh towards. This teacher had a stroke in front of the whole clas

Prof . Aparicio makes the class fun, and he has a very latin sense of humour! He's funny, and if you go with the flow in class, and do the legwork in the textbook, you will be fine. You must follow the chapters in the textbook , work the textbook to do well on his tests. He is a worldly man with lots of teaching expérience.

Professor Aparicio is REALLY funny but you kind of need a big sense of humor for his class. If you are offended easily but get over it cause you're in college. Class is structured as a repeat-after-me class but honestly thats how language should be. I took french in high school and I can see how he can be difficult for beginners. I would take again

I took French 2, French 3, French 4, and French 8 with Professor Aparicio. Some say he's hard but I found that, after going to his office hours and engaging with the class, that the class became incredibly enjoyable. The tools I learned, in learning French and studying in general, helped me long after I transferred from SMC to UC Berkeley.

The only French 2 and above teacher available at SMC. The class is conducted as a respond or repeat after me style row by row. The textbook is only used for homework assignments, each misspelling or misplaced word will drop the assignment a grade down. Most of the grade relies on the chapter test where it is slightly more leniently graded.

I took his french one. He's a nice person but terrible at teaching. I have to see totur every week in order to keep up with the class. He doesn't teach much about grammar but it's french one and the test and hm are all about grammar. His hand writing is terrible too. People get A from his class is because they took french before.

I already have an MA & took French for personal interest; I have already had several years of other foreign languages (with straight A's). This is one of the worst classes I have ever taken. He just keeps repeating sentences the whole time and does not answer questions or really teach. His jokes are not funny, but instead are rather tasteless.

He is not for all tastes and he has a large personality. Attend a couple of classes and decide if this class is for you. I did learn a lot although I learned the grammar on my own. Homework is easy but tests are difficult. The classrooms are acoustically poor and construction noise made it difficult to hear.

He drops you down a letter grade if you miss two classes. He doesn't tell the truth to students and his jokes are not funny +very insulting to (women)&men. He makes you sign a waiver;you cant ask about grades over email & you cant see him until the next semester if you have problems at the end of current one. he talks the whole 2h; no book usage

BRILLIANT French professor! Hilarious, enthusiastic, and an all-around great guy. He may poke a little fun, but it's all in good humour. If you're looking to become fluent in French, this is your Prof! He teaches phrases and words that are not in the text. VERY strict with policies, but still caring. He helps with your diction and clarity.

If you like French, find an hour in your schedule for this class. You won't regret it. I can't say enough about Mr. Aparicio, but I'll list off some adjectives: hilarious, accommodating, passionate, caring, fun, knowledgable and did I mention hilarious? Last semester was very stressful for me, and coming to his class was cheap, quality therapy.

Really supportive, passionate professor who you can tell cares about his job. Pretty funny too, made me look forward to attending class. Don't take if you're looking for an easy A but if you care about French, feel you can self-teach and will work hard, definitely recommended. Be nice and have a good attitude and he will love you!

Fun conversational class; just show up and have fun. I also took him for French 2. His personality, enthusiasm, quality as a teacher = FANTASTIC. However, his policies are pretty strict and his tests are about medium difficulty. Basically: Easy A without learning? Don't take him. Actual quality learning? He definitely deserves higher reviews.

Personally, I love French so this class paired with Monsieur Aparicio was great. He's funny; he figures out how to construct sentences so the relate to us and we remember them. Whole class is conversational; homework due every class. Tests are medium difficulty, you just need to study a bit.
